did you know that they want to ban snuff in turkey due to its so-called immoral language? they say its insulting for women and bad for teeneger's behavior. they even arrested the translater of the book and sued the publisher company. translater and publisher are not backing off, of course, they are fightin roughly for the book so they couldnt achive their goal yet but it seems like they will. the worst thing is no matter how much we protest, it's no use at all...

I'd watch it.

I'm not American, nor English, and I'm translating chapters from Snuff (yeah, I have lots of free time). And I have two, maybe stupid questions about little things I don't know what to do with.

"Half them even dated Cassie, talked marriage, becoming the Lunts, the Desi and Lucy of adult entertainment." Who are these people?

"...closing time at the ManRod or the Eagle, and you're left standing still unfucked, all alone." And ManRod and Eagle?

Sorry if these are obvious, but I really need to know...

i dont know; it was something mirk said earlier, about not ever reading it. it has occurred to me a couple of times in the past year to particularly ask her what she thought of the book, being that the story if far removed from her general like of bookreads; i just kept forgetting. then i read in a post earlier that she exhibits absolutely no interest in reading it. like, as in, ever haha

i can only imagine that the amount of chuck fans here who do not hold desire to someday read snuff is legion; but i do desire to understand a majority of the reasons. the fors and againsts. thoughts, specific ideas. read more »

hi i'll start off by saying im a massive, massive chuck fan....but i thought snuff was a load of shit. i hated it, i think its his worse book by a long long way. all the way through it i just kept thinking..so what...so what.. i couldnt see any point to any of it. the ending, the lightning..yeah right. it had none of the energy or anger of his (brilliant) earlier books. ok i accept that as a person he has changed, evolved, of course, we all do, over time. his personal circumstances have changed and maybe he no longer has the same anger. Or maybe he thought why do the same old thing time after time, try an alternative approach, fair enough, im just saying i hated it. Am i alone? also i hated haunted which i think in most circles was quite well recieved, so maybe i dont "get" his work any more. i loved rant, thought it was absolutly spot on, cant praise it enough. tc guys. ben.

So reading through the book it was very apparent that Branch was the father of Cassie's baby even though I wont lie I was expecting some kind of twist later in the novel that didn't come.

But what I wasn't fully expecting was Branch and Cassie's history. I assumed that they met working in the industry and just knew each other while Shelia was just a very angry girl calling Branch a rapist, with this fact I also assumed there was a bit more but not as much as there was).

The fact that Branch drugged Cassie up and had sex with her, litterally killing her then bringing her back to life, obiviously when they were a bit younger, just surprised me a bit. Not like OH MY GOD surprised just unexpected.

So was anyone else expecting that kind of history between those two?

Can someone tell me how many chapters are in Snuff? I downloaded a bootleg audio book and I'm pretty sure it's not the whole book.
