Haunted
Haunted Philosophy
I'm trying to find out if there any philosophers that subscribe to the idea that, we spend our whole lives trying to fight and avoid death.... anybody know of any schools of thought or philosophers that expound on this?
Noticed Something Strange...
Okay, I guess the title is a little misleading, as this book is kinda strange in general. But really, in the third chapter, I noticed that the room Mr. Whittier sits in, described as a "French Louis XV lobby" with "cornflower blue velvet" chairs. I may be wrong on this, but that sounds a lot like the setting of "No Exit" by Jean-Paul Sartre. Of course, it makes perfect sense in the context of the novel (it's a personal Hell). Do you think Chuck planned it this way? Have you found any other throwbacks to other works?
Could Obsolete and The Nightmare Box be connected?
Just finished the book and absolutely loved every page! The Nightmare Box and Obsolete were two stories that really caught my attention. I remember one of the characters mentioning that the Nightmare Box gave a glimpse into the truth behind life, how we are only a part of something bigger.
I'm almost wondering if "Obsolete" was supposed to answer the question of what exactly the Nightmare Box explained? This could be an extended version of what Cassandra saw. Any other thoughts??
Random signed copy?
Hello all, greetings from Iceland!
I think this question needs a little bit of a background, but I'm wondering if this is random or a part of the paperback release:
I bought my copy of Haunted in 2008 from a bookstore in downtown Reykjavik and read it that fall. Great book, one of my favorites in fact so I just picked it up again. read more »
Missing Pages
So I read to page 180 then the next page is 197! I am missing a bunch of pages! What should I do? I want to get a complete novel sent to me...maybe with some extra freebies to makes up for the inconvenience.
I just bought Haunted today.
I'm excited to read it. I'm reading Rules Of Attraction but I just put it aside to begin this book. The guy who runs the book store said it's his favorite Palahniuk book.

Green Room
I didn't really understand the point of Green Room, am I not getting something?
Is "Guts" possible? (spoiler)
Hi, I'm new to the site and Chuck's books.
I'm reading Haunted right now (please don't spoil it for me!) and was very shocked and horrified while reading the short story "Guts" (In a good way. Well, after I recovered).
I'm sure this has already been asked/answered on this site, but since I couldn't find the answer, is Guts possible? If so, how?!?
I don't understand how it would work in my mind. Saint Gut-Free's large intestine would have to be pulled either inside-out (meaning two layers of it, which he didn't describe) or have broken off at his anus and been pulled out that way (which to me seems at the very least, highly unlikely).
Has this ever actually happened to someone?
