MASTERMIND

In the UK we have a very long-running quiz show called Mastermind. Each episode, 4 or 5 contestants have two individual goes at answering as many questions as they can, in an iconic black swivel chair.

Because of the show's dim lighting and quiet audience, the atmosphere is very tense. No wonder the idea of the show was coined by a guy interrogated by the Gestapo.

The rules
The first round is on the contestant's subject of choice. They have 2 minutes to do this. The next round is 2.5 minutes of general knowledge questions. Whoever gets the most points wins. Simples!

If you had to go on Mastermind, what would be your specialist subject?

According to Wikipedia, the following subjects have been rejected in the past: read more »

  • Routes to anywhere in mainland Britain by road from Letchworth.

So I went to the Kurt Vonnegut Memorial Library and then I went to his old home.

Though small, the KVML is worth stopping at if you happen to be in the Indianapolis area. Arguably one of Indianapolis' most famous sons and unarguably its most famous writer has a Memorial Library not to far from Indianapolis' Capital Building. While small, it does have several of KV's painting, his entire body of work, and some of his personal possessions (rooster lamp, cigarettes, books, etc.)

And since I was already in the area, I decided to go to his childhood home in Indy. No one currently lives there, so I got to creep around and take some pictures.

While I'm not sure how much reconstruction was done on the house itself, the door is original. The K & E is for Kurt Vonnegut Sr. and the E is for Edith (KV's father and mother). 1923 is the year the house was built. read more »

i need people to tell me what they think, EVERYONE!

be honest! tell me what you think of these two peoms, consturcktive critisim would be lovely.

I was born in love.
My early years we're filled with obnoxious music
needles, powder, and smoke.
They did me wrong.
Then I got thrown into a different kind of love.
A cleaner, more conservitative love.
A strict kind of love.
Although that love was pure I longed for the first love.
The love that did me wrong, the love I forgave.
Although the second was clean and pure.
Why do we always go back to the love that did us wrong?
thats the first one.
second..

That misleading heartbeat.
So loudly beneath your chest,
leading me to beleive that yes, you really like me.
yes, i excite you.
yes,yes,yes.
Wrong.
the next day confused and ignoring sleep and food.
all my self worth goes to you.
my self worth is not my own, just like our bodies are not our own.
if i think highly of myself i will take it too far.
its either black or white. read more »

Random Question About Something From Ye Olde Cult

Ok, here goes, years ago I used to post here and somebody on here posted some of their songs which I downloaded and subsequently lost. One of the songs was called something like "Alexander Gray was my brother" - vague I know, but does anybody have any more details? A cult history test for you all!
