New xbox Dashboard

So what do you guys think of it?

At first I thought it was really nice and clean looking. Everything seems to be organized well. And I see that they are going to be bringing youtube to xbox live soon too.

All great.

Until I tried to use netflix. I hate how that is organized. Any time you click on something to bring up more options, it instnatly starts playing - like if you click on a tv series to view the episodes. It's almost impossible to smoothly navigate episodes of tv series.

Honestly, that's all I've really done on it so far though.

Earphones

Recommend me some. I'm especially interested in sporty type ones, good for running and such. I have the worst luck with this. Last ones I remember buying are these Sony ones...

and these

They were alright for what they were but they weren't all that. I believe the former was about $20 and the latter was $30. They lasted 3 months or so. I don't mind paying more BUT it'd be really cool if they would last at least long enough for me to get attached and miss them after they're gone. And for them to not sound like complete shit.

I want to know about big headphones too. I borrowed some Sennheisers last week, kind like these

So... L.A. Noire... (Possible Spoilers)

I know quite a few of you were really looking forward to it but since it's come out I haven't really heard any of your opinions on it.

Were you like me and thought it was a boring, mediocre, and overly long and drawn out disappointment? Or was it everything you thought it would be, i.e. "THE BEST GAME EVER?"

Here are some of my thoughts on it, collected from another site:

Right now I'm trudging through L.A. Noire. Am I in the minority here in thinking this game is unnecessarily long and tedious? I think this game would have been a lot better if they'd just focused on you being in homicide. Maybe add some more cases not related to the Black Dahlia stuff and keep all the street crimes in. That would have been fine. Instead I'm stuck doing more bullshit cases in Vice. read more »

I wanted a Wii and my boyfriend came home with a Playstation 2

So last week my boyfriend came home with a 2nd hand slimline Playstation2 (£20).

Initially I was cross as we were going to buy a Wii, but upon researching, I was pleased to read that they still make some Playstation2 games, being the most successful selling console of all time...or whatever.

Anyway, seeing as the Playstation2's here to stay, if anyone's got any game or gadget recommendations let me know. I generally like games where I can relieve my anger management problem.

So far we've bought:

Return to Castle Wolfenstein 2

Time Crisis 2

My boyfriend also bought some boring car game I'll probably never touch...

I also like more light-hearted stuff and definitely intend to buy The Sims...

Duke Nukem (Took) Forever!

I don't know anything about it, except:

It's from 3D Realms.

It's Duke Nukem.

And, really, that's all I need to know.

Anyone getting it? Can it possibly live up to the wait? Does anyone even care at this point?

The idea that a video game is an interactive story arch, movie, or more blasphemously, a novel, has been thrown around since METAL GEAR SOLID hit the stage. It’s never really been true, unless you’re talking about graphic novels, or children’s books, where character development and interactions can remain minimal, scripted, and are the same for everyone involved. In my example above, METAL GEAR SOLID, Sniper Wolf invariably dies. The dialogue between her and Snake, while poignant, is still just as scripted. You do see her as more of a human, right there at the end, but not because of anything you did.
