Fight Club and Belonging.

Humans are glorified monkeys. Glorified because we have bigger brains. Glorified only by other humans in comparison to primitive primates. But when it comes down to it we really aren’t as many rungs up the ladder of enlightened god status as we think we are. Our base drives of procreation, which ensures the prolonging of the species, security and stability, which ensures the survival of the individual. Combine this with an over sized brain and you get feelings, the thin red line of humanity. Every thing humans do can be narrowed down to one thing, safety.

Ok, I know there were alot of watchers for this, and the auction was getting out of control! I had somebody hit 'buy it now' by accident and I relisted these beauties at their last highest bid.

So to those of you that were watching and were highly dissappointed when you saw that this was gone...now is your chance to not kick yourself later! The bid is 740, and I know two people are definitely going to bid. So good luck spacemonkeys...here's the relisted link:

has fight club actually changed your values?

I am doing a speech for a class and was just wondering how many people in here actually have had a change in their own personal values or beliefs after reading Fight Club. Many may joke and say that they "have embraced their inner tyler durden" or that they believe they are "not their fucking khakis" and stuff like that. But i wonder are there any people who after reading this novel would say that they see the world differently or something along those lines. And if you could point me towards an article or another forum post about this topic i would appreciate it.

You are not your.....

....clothes.

I know this has been asked before, but I couldn't find it anywhere. If Tyler is such an anti-consumerist and claims that, "you are not your clothes," why does he dress with so much style? The only thing I noticed about the way he dresses is that it seems as if he doesn't match, but still dresses with style.

Enlightenment

What do you think is the meaning of it exactly? I found this online and it sounded like it would fit fight club what do you think?

There are a number of portals to stop thinking.

Being present .

living in the now.

Your body is the best way to becoming present. It is a gateway. Once you are present in the moment, your mind will cease, only occasionally trying to get your attention in many clever ways.

When you are living in the present moment, there are no problems, there is no fear, there is no more torment.

It is possible to live with no mind. The mind cannot exist without past or future, you will notice it taking into projected futures or reliving the past over and over.

The mind cannot control you if you manage to stay present.

The continual state of no mind is called enlightenment.
