Slaughterhouse Five
Author : Kurt Vonnegut
Prisoner of war, optometrist, time-traveller - these are the life roles of Billy Pilgrim, hero of this miraculously moving, bitter and funny story of innocence faced with apocalypse. "Slaughterhouse 5" is one of the world's great anti-war books. Centring on the infamous fire-bombing of Dresden in the Second World War, Billy Pilgrim's odyssey through time reflects the journey of our own fractured lives as we search for meaning in what we are afraid to know. - Amazon

meh, it was good, but i don't see why all the hype around this book.
The "hype" was largely due to its being banned all over the country at the time it came out.
SH5 is a good introduction to Vonnegut if you've never read him before. It lays out most everything he will return to in all of his others - themes, motifs, even characters reoccur elsewhere. Is it his very best book? Arguably not, but it is certainly up there. I personally have a soft spot for Bluebeard, which is one of his very few works with an upbeat (or at least redemptive) ending. I'm mushy like that.
Should you read Slaughterhouse Five? I would put it easily in the All Time Great List Of 100 Books That Everyone Should Read Sooner Or Later. Will it change your life? Maybe not, but still very worth it.
I liked this book a lot. I'm on Cat's Cradle right now.
I've been debating reading this one I'm on Cats Cradle too and i really like it. I've read DeadEye Dick by Kurt too but i didnt really like that one..
i put that picure of Montana's boobs and locket everywhere. cause the serenity prayer is incredibly helpful, much like Let It Be is helpful. whether you're religious or not. whether you like the Beatles or not.
I liked SlaughterHouse 1 a lot better.
