I ordered this book on amazon on the specific recommendation of the members who recommended it. It was fantastic! The story was smooth, dark, and sexy. You couldnt ask for anything else from a book. I highly recommend that you get this book.
I have been trying to get it everytime I go to the book store but they don't have it. I will just order it online soon.
here's all three

This book kept me reading nonstop for much of a day. It was great and I was right there with the protagonist for most of it. Dark and interesting. I am about to read Penny Dreadful.
I could never put my finger on why I hated this book.
I liked the style, I liked the characters, but something about the story arc itself was just off. Somehow I just didn't care about the characters ever. And since I'm a details person, not a big picture person, it's hard to nail down why.
Sad.
I finished this in just over a day. First taste of WCB. Loved it.
Loved the opening chapter of this book, then sadly it went all downhill. The only reason I persisted reading it was because so many people said it was amazing but it just didn't deliver. The style was all over the place and actually detached me from the story, shame.
both the story and the writing is forced. The style covers it up pretty well for lesser people, but wtf.
BLASPHEMY!
word. the writing is badass, the allusions are incredible.
exactly. if the style is throwing you, then it is doing exactly what it set out to do. geeez, if you think KMJ throws you, just wait for Penny. now that's a trip. you've got to stop trying ton control everything. stop wanting to be spoonfed everything. Phineas weaves in and out of sanity like it's nobody's business. you've just gotta roll with him, and rememeber that he is meant to be unreliable, edgy and unpredictable. remember, he just came out of a mental institution.
Phineas is the ultimate unreliable narrator. and you know that from the beginning. it's laid out for you. that's also, why i think Baer chose to use no dialogue quotations; because nothing is certain. nothing is real to phineas. he isn't sure of anything. and people didn't like the no quotations thing. i personally really like it, stylistically. but the fact that in this story it has a greater meaning, and is being used as a technique, just floors me.
fucking great first book to an even better trilogy, i say.
