Chuck's March Feedback Of Workshop Submissions

Chuck Palahniuk reads and reviews your original stories! (photo by John Gress)

Today we unveil the next five stories that were selected from our Workshop in March and sent to Chuck.  Wait... sent to Chuck?  You mean best selling author Chuck Palahniuk actually reads original stories by his fans?  Why, yes!  Where the hell have you been?  Okay, maybe you need a recap.

For 2009, Chuck Palahniuk has decided he wants to take our Writers' Workshop up a notch. In previous years, Chuck provided monthly craft essays to help writers improve their work with trusted methods and tools he applied to his own writing.  This year, Chuck wants us to select five stories every month and email them to him.  He will then read and critique the stories, providing feedback on what works and what doesn't work.  Then, at the end of the year, Chuck will be selecting the best stories from the year and will work to have them published in an anthology that he's paying for.  He's even going to write the foreword for it!

Due to this announcement in January, activity on our Writers' Workshop has blown up.  We now receive over 100 stories a month from talented up and coming writers.  Everything from shorts, to novel excerpts to even poetry and screenplays.  (*Note:  Chuck only accepts fiction for the Anthology).

Chuck Palahniuk's "Pygmy" debuts at #3 on the NY Times Best Seller List!

Wow.  Chuck has hit a homerun with his latest novel "Pygmy".   It just debuted at #3 on The New York Times Best Seller List.  I think this might be an all-time high for a Palahniuk release.   (someone correct me if I'm wrong).

Chuck Palahniuk Interview In TIME Magazine

Chuck Palahniuk photographed by Neilson Bernard for TIME Magazine

This is a big one, folks.  Chuck was interviewed for TIME Magazine while on the road for his U.S. 'Pygmy' Tour.  The picture above (which I think is one of the best I've ever seen of Chuck) was taken by Neilson Bernard for Getty.

Pygmy Tour: Check Out Pictures From The Events

Well, the U.S. leg of the 2009 'Pygmy' tour has ended.  Many of you were upset that Chuck was only able to do five cities this time around, not the least of which was Chuck himself.  But as you heard him mention in the recent KPBS interview, he lost his mother recently to cancer and spent a large potion of last year caring for her.  Also don't forget that he was coming off two tours in 2008.

'Pygmy' Tour Tshirts Are Here!

New Tshirts are available for the upcoming 'Pygmy' tour!  You may remember that we did this last year and the year before, for 'Snuff' and 'Rant' (respectively).  We initially held off on making these, due to the fact that Chuck is only doing five stops on this tour.  But then three more stops got added to Canada and we suddenly had 8 cities that we could list on the back of the shirt.

In a recent audio interview Chuck did with KPBS, while on the road promoting his latest novel "Pygmy", Chuck openly talked about his next novel.  In fact, Chuck revealed that, while caring for his mother last year, he actually wrote three novels!  The one which is going to drop in 2010 is called "Tell All" and if you thought Chuck couldn't get anymore original and daring... think again.
