On this note we've started looking at Film Noir in school and my teacher couldn't have made it more boring. We looked at a trailer for Blade Runner and she murdered the whole plot in a minute and called Deckard a typical Private Investigator, Rachael a typical femme-fatale and some other six year old shit about shadows and evil. Eurgh.

oh man, I love that movie. I tried to convince my friend Jared that he missed a touchstone of the 80s by growing up and never having seen it. I don't think he believed me, I never could get him to watch it.

Man, some great ones. Apocalypse Now of course. Jacob's Ladder (I'd almost put in Angel Heart here now, instead of Blair Witch). Seven Up, got to start watching those, heard so much about them. The Wall was 2nd to the Doors. The Jerk. That's in my top comedies for sure. Usual Suspects is a great drama. And Heathers - a cult classic, very much a touchstone/lodestone. SO good.

There are lots of foreign films I like. By foreign films I take that to mean foreign language films. Not films made out of this country. Also, I totally feel superior for seeing La Jetée when I was about fourteen, thirteen maybe. Near my fourteenth birthday. I want to see it again sometime, I'm sure it's about on the internet. Now that I'm a little older, wiser, a little better at French. I know it's like la j'etais now too, spoke about that with my french teacher when we watched french films, actually I want to get more into French cinema. Franc, I'll send you a PM for advice.

Documentary - I need help here please!!!

I watched a documentary a few years ago about a guy who would find abandoned war planes, fix them, and then fly off with them and take them home.

The subject of the doc was a plane in Antartica, I think, and he was having trouble fixing it and in the end someone on his crewed died trying to make thi thing happen.

It was a mind blowing story, but for some reason did not get the name of the film, and have not seen it since.

I think I originally saw it on IFC. Not sure though.

That is the best doc out there ever...

Pretty similar tastes in movies too, from the looks of it.

Fight Club, Pulp Fiction, The Big Lebowski, and Dawn of the Dead are the greatest films of all time, not to mention classified (by me anyways) as black comedy. The greatest genre ever.

Maybe Dawn's more of a drama, but close enough, the comedic stuff is what sets it aside.
