Win A Bunch Of TELL-ALL Publicity Posters!
Doubleday needs YOUR help choosing which 50s-style movie poster to produce for Tell-All!
And to thank you for your help, they are offering 50 (FIFTY!) fans a quantity of the winning poster! This means that you don't get just one Tell-All poster, but a bunch that you can share with friends that are also Chuck fans. How cool is that?
How to enter to win:
- Please review the following link carefully, and vote accordingly! Doubleday is looking for a very specific type of poster as detailed in that link. (There are a lot of great posters, but not all are following the criteria.)
- Vote!
- Send one email!
- The subject line of the email should have the artist's name (It is below the posters).
- The body of the email should contain your full name and mailing address. (Your email may be disqualified if you don't follow those directions)
- Only one email entry per person and no amendments or do-overs
Email to: tell_all_poster@chuckpalahniuk.net
How the winners will be chosen:
IMPORTANT: The winners will be chosen randomly. The winning poster will not necessarily be the one with the most "hearts" i.e. votes.
Now this is the tricky part...if enough people vote for the poster that IS chosen, 50 people will be randomly selected to get posters that voted for that one.
If Doubleday goes with a poster that didn't get the most votes, 50 people will be chosen at random, just for participating! So DO vote, and DO choose your vote carefully!
FINALLY:
Check out the posters here and vote!

Love Chuck - have bought every one of his books, ever.
But as a working professional in the design field, I refuse to participate in 'design by contest'. I am disappointed in Doubleday for sinking this low, when their own authors work in the creative field. How about the marketing manager who came up with this idea should do about $1200 worth of work, in competition with a few hundred other professionals, on the off-chance that his boss likes it.
If Doubleday believes this is a fair way to solicit creative work, then they might as well start opening unsolicited manuscripts.
Again, I must be clear, love Chuck's work, and I hate throwing cold water on this, but I felt I must voice my objection.

It's supposed to be a fun way to create advance publicity/buzz before the book comes out. It's hardly meant to rip anyone off or deprive them of their livelihood.
I voted! They were all so pretty, but I liked the one I picked cos it was totally sexy. I just hope I did it right
I was a bit upset when I wrote my above 'rant' , so just to clarify, letting the fans have a sneak peek at the poster art is indeed a way to promote, and create advance buzz. No problem. My issue is with the publisher using CrowdSpring to award a graphic designer $1200 for doing spec work in the first place.
I sort of agree with you, but for the most part, publishers don't do shit in the way of this kind of "buzz generating" for books. I haven't seen posters for Stephen King's last few books even. So the fact that they're paying anything to anyone at all to promote a book is a small victory of sorts.
I guess you're saying they should get it over with and pay a professional to design the poster?
Doubleday could just hire someone, but how cool is it that they are allowing anyone in the entire world to have a chance to design Chuck's Tell-All poster? You know that they wouldn't even have to offer payment and they would still get a shitload of designs, right?
So, are people who work for the Cult eligible to vote, or no?
You have to admit, like the idea or not, there are some pretty amazing posters up there. Almost all of them were lovely, in my opinion.

Yep, we can vote. (We get a poster regardless, so we vote for the one we hope to frame.)
The selections ARE pretty damn amazing.
I really am excited to see which one wins!
This competition started off as brief like any other and has since had the rules changed. I'm not here to bitch about it though but rather asking to put those opinions aside and actually vote. A lot of people have put in a lot of work and need support instead of apathy. Vote!

The design contest issue is a really big one in the multimedia/design field right now, given the fact that it is noticably costing them a shit load of jobs as well as diminishing the credibility of the field. Design contests are literally ruining professional designers. Whether or not that's okay or not is...complicated...I mean, as someone who's supposedly meant to go into the field after I graduate, I actually really like these little communist contest things no matter what they do to peoples' livelihoods! Sorry, I know right now isn't the time or place to discuss this but... it's just, I see where kenjo is coming from because if I was an established worker in the field that was being threatened by these things, I'd be pissed too.
wait wait wait are those links on the left margin the first two chapters?
why yes, they are!
I don't know which i would vote for, probably the skull ones...
Please tell me everyone saw these as well- Part of the new book

The winning poster is amazing and would really be a better cover for the book!
