IMPORTANT: We Need Everyone To See CHOKE This Weekend!
Just like the news title says: We Need Everyone To See CHOKE This Weekend! If you planned on seeing it during the week, or even waiting to next weekend, or a couple weekends after that... don't.
We need you to see CHOKE this weekend. Now even. As soon as you're done with reading this, grab some friends, get your ticket, and head to the nearest theater showing it. (listings here)
The opening box office numbers for CHOKE might not mean much to you... but in the long-run, they'll mean a ton to the future life of other Chuck Palahniuk adaptations. 'Fight Club' was a box office failure, and did not make back, domestically, what it cost to make the film. As a result, we had to wait over eight years for our next Palahniuk adaptation.
So let's not let that happen again. Let's all make sure CHOKE hits a homerun this weekend. I'm sure that, with the Presidential Debate on last night, they took a hit in their Friday numbers. So let's make up for that today and tomorrow.
I know I'm talking to thousands of you here. And every one of you can make a difference. But it has to be THIS weekend.
Go see CHOKE now. Consider this a homework assignment from Chuck Palahniuk... the real Tyler Durden.

I'm from Mexico but was in Austin for the ACL Festival. I got to see the movie with 2 friends on sunday, it was half empty and it was the 1 pm show.
I have read the book but my friends hadn't, the only reference they had was that it was from the same author of Fight Club. They both liked the movie very much (me too, and actually I think better than the book), they did not have some stuff clear (although Im not sure if it was because a lenguage barrier or script flaw). I cleared their doubts as best I could but they are already telling people to go see the movie...they asked me to lend the book....which I won't, I rather give them new copies.
My favorite Palahniuk book so far has been Lullaby, then Survivor....I've read also Choke, Invisible Monsters and Fight Club... I started Diary but didn't get me too interested and I'm currently reading Haunted with Rant on the queue.
Incredible film! Saw it on Friday afternoon. Kudos to Clark Gregg for a job very, very well done.
If it was 1pm I'd definitely say that is half full. And Lullaby? really? meh..
Saw it twice over the weekend! I'll be seeing it more though!
***Some might say spoilers below***
I saw it down here in ol' Baton Rouge, LA on a Saturday night. Theater was definitely not full. The movie was ok. It certainly suffered from a bigger budget but given what they had to work with I thought they did a good job. Thank god for the real acting. Any lesser actors would never have pulled it off. Also I thought the representation of their workplace was exactly as I had pictured it in my mind. I was impressed by that. I liked the Radiohead tune at the end and coulda done without the boom mike appearance above mom in that key scene. Oh well, low budget. How much did it cost to make exactly? They're up to $1.3M so far.
So I went and saw Choke on a Friday night at 7:00pm on its second weekend and there were THREE OTHER COUPLES in the theater. Obviously, someone did not do a good job advertising for this movie.
I wish they would have stayed truer to the ending, at least ***Spoiler*** destroyed Denny's thing.
Choke is and will always be the best book I have ever read...South Carolina is showing it almost nowhere, if not absolutely nowhere, and I am crushed. I have bought this book for at least 12 people, simply to get them off of Dean Koontz or romance novels, and it has worked every single time. Praise be to the man who wrote it, and I'm sure I'll feel the same about the movie...no matter how little music it has.
Saw the film this past Saturday - loved it!! Also, there were at least 50-60 people in the theater. They were only showing it at 2 different times (2pm and 7pm)
