Great night last night, it was a blast. Chuck had some great "games" to play with the dolls. wow, lots of blow-up dolls. I really love Chucks stories too, he could talk all night with just one question, it turns to all sorts of answers.
The interview part by the locals wasn't great, but chuck handled her pretty well. The venue was packed, those up front got more swag than the rest of us in the back. So sit up near the front if you want a doll. Standing for four hours was worth the Hound.
It was hella fun. The readings were really great, as well as the extra stories that came in the Q & A-- so be sure to pick Chuck's brain! It's not that hard to do.
It was an amazing night. Managed to get a Hound as well.
I thought the Q&A session with the lady from the local paper was a joke though
Does anyone happen to remember the authors name from Fargo?
Yeah, the chick from the Star Tribune monopolized the entire Q & A, which was a disappointment, but everything else about last night was a slice of fried gold. Standing for hours was totally worth it to speak to Chuck, and though I didn't come away with a blow up doll, I managed an autograph hound.
To all those attending future stops on the tour, sit/stand close, and shout down any moderators that attempt to hog the discussion session YOU PAID FOR with their fucking inane questions. Especially people who write for shitty little "scene" tabloids that lobotomized monkeys would scoff at.
Also, Don Pollock was fucking awesome. I will be buying a copy of Knockemstiff.
that author was me, justin jorgensen - chuck was giving away my silly little gift book: "obscene interiors" http://justinspace.com
Awesome. Thank you!
Thanks to Krymson for the inquiry and Justin for the response.
Yes, Chuck was great. This was my first time seeing him in person and he is a fascinating storyteller. Definitely worth it. I agree that the moderator was sub-par, especially when she said she had one more question efore opening it up to the audience and then droned on for another ... what .. 45 minutes? Seemed like it.
Alas ... I got neither doll nor hound, being in back at the railing, but I did get my ticket in time to meet Chuck and get a personalized inscription, so I'm happy. I also LOVED the Choke bookmarks. I started reading Snuff today -- amazing as usual. His books seem easy to summarize as far as basic premise, but man ... where they go from there is indescribable.
Thanks Chuck!
