This was a fun event!  The auditorium packed - at least 500 people.  The event began at 7:10 PM with a short video promoting Georgia Perimeter College with the marketing slogan "Size Matters!" - emphaszing the number of campuses and opportunities available to students.  Of course, this "Size Matters" slogan prompted several jokes and innuendos from the audience but the host was a good sport about it.

Highlights included:

* Male/Female sex dolls giving out to the audience with a contest to see who could completely blow up the first male & female; Chuck was a good referee - stating the dolls could not be "wrinkled or sagging" but fully inflated.

* Reading of the unpublished story "Loser"

* Host inteview of Chuck

* Screening of the "Choke" movie trailer

* Audience Q&A; sex dolls given to people asking questions with another blow up contest; included a brief telling of the "Finger" and "Heating Pad" stories

* "Autograph Hound" give away to the audience

The event concluded around 9:10 PM.  The 150 early birds then lined up to get a private book signing with Chuck.

This was my first Chuck P. book tour event and it was great.  I was surprised at how many female fans he has - easily 50% of the audience.

Will try to post pictures.

Cheers,

TexasFan ... now living in Atlanta

It was a wonderful event. I'd never been to one of Chuck's signings before so this was a real treat. One group had driven all the way from Orlando and I'm sure they weren't disappointed.

He's a gifted speaker and had some really insightful comments about his craft and how he goes about researching his books. At one point, he said that a person can either be used by something tragic that happens to them--or find a way to use it.

I can't wait to see the movie of Choke, the trailer was funny as hell.

Also, the short story that he read, "Loser"  was fabulous.

Wow, that was such an amazing event.  I can't believe it, but, my mom was actually the one who told me about it, she found an article in the AJC, she knows how much I luv Chucky P.  Smile

I have never been to a book discussion before, and it was more than I could have hoped for.  Chuck is one of my favorite authors of all time and I can't wait to ready Snuff.  He was so cool in person and I loved that he shared the finger, loser, and the heating pad story was great!  It was so nice to hear about his research into the novels and especially the sex addict support group.

I am happy to see another one of his books land on the big screen, but I have to admit, I really would have LOVED to see Survivor make it to the screen.  BUT, understandably, there is a little tension on the hijacking and suicide subjects these days.

I just wanted to say;

 “Thank you Chuck for coming to see us in Atlanta!  It was an honor!!!  Next time I’ll have to get off work earlier so I can make your acquaintance!”

And don’t forget Chucky fans; “size MATTERS!!!”

Fans ~ I would love to purchase the books that Chuck was giving out as prizes, anyone keen on the titles of those?

Happy Girl!  Smile

Do not get the impression that other author events are as engaging and entertaining as Chuck's.  I've been to several, and this was truly a unique experience.  I do recommend seeing Christopher Hitchens if he comes back to town.  He had quite a lively debate with an Emory professor at his event last year.

BTW, one of the books Chuck mentioned was KNOCK 'EM STIFF.

I wish I brought my good camera. This is a shot of my sister and I backstage from my iPhone. Chuck was absolutely awesome.
