Release Date Of CHOKE Movie Pushed To September

I actually think this is good news.  Choke will have a much better run and gain more exposure and word of mouth if it's not jampacked into the middle of one of the craziest tentpole movie blockbuster summers in recent history.  With that, here is the lovely Samantha Bond, from the publicity department of Fox 2000:

Hi Dennis-

JUST found out that the film is officially moving from August 1st to September 26th for its theatrical release. That date is official and ok to put on your site let fans know.

Oh, and you had asked about festival screenings. The following have been confirmed for CHOKE:

Los Angeles Film Festival: June 23rd and June 25th
CineVegas Film Festival, Las Vegas, NV: June 20th
Sundance @ BAM, Brooklyn, NY: screening on June 5th and June 7th, Q&A with Clark Gregg
Seattle Int'l Film Festival: June 5th and June 7th

Good for the movie (I hope). It's moving intot he dumping grounds, so hopefully it'll be a shiny diamond amidst a sea of turds...

Also, if Snuff can garner some controversy, it'll be a good boost going in...I expect the movie to do mildly well, but become a...*ahem*...Cult Classic...

Moving it furthr away from the Snuff release might hurtit though.

Unless a bunch of kids pick up Snuff over the summer and start bringing them to school en masse in the fall and the parent-teacher groups get outraged and start banning it. Then the end of september will be a gold mine!

we can only hope. There hasn't been a good book controversy in a while, so one's is due!

Sucks that most people have to wait awhile longer, but the movie is worth it no matter when it comes out.  I saw it at Sundance at the beginning of the year and loved it.  I'm anxious to see how much had to be edited for the wide release.  I'm counting on a special edition DVD with all the deleted scenes at some point.
