Cult Master's Program Breaks New Ground
The Cult Master's Program is back in action with a fall line-up that breaks new ground, adding journalism and non-fiction writing to our exciting roster of upcoming classes. First on this new menu is a killer opportunity for anyone who has ever admired the skills of top investigative reporters or wondered how to add depth and credibility to writing of all kinds through the deployment of advanced research and sleuthing skills.
To lead us on this journey, I have recruited a top player in the field. Jon Leiberman is an Emmy award-winning investigative correspondent who has filed hundreds of reports on fugitives across the country and abroad for the FOX TV show “America’s Most Wanted.” An expert in all things crime, he regularly appears on shows including “The Today Show,” “Shepard Smith’s Fox Report”, “Nancy Grace,” “The Dan Abrams Report” and “The Maury Povich Show,” and is quoted extensively on crime stories in newspapers throughout the country.
In our upcoming Cult Master's Class, Investigative Reporting with Jon Leiberman (starts September 1st), we will explore all the foundational tools that you need to deepen your creative writing with robust research and investigation skills. This class will also be ideal for bloggers, podcasters, citizen journalists, filmmakers, documentarians, and anyone else who wants to uncover the secrets and develop the fact-finding skills of top investigative reporters. We will also explore:
- interview techniques
- how to evaluate the credibility of a source
- protecting your sources
- ethics in journalism
- how to find an expert to interview on any topic
- how to use the Freedom of Information Act to get the facts you need
- top blogs every media professional should read
- and lots, lots more...
Seats are limited, so click here to learn more and register now.
I'll see you in class.

This is so cool.
But the price tag is too high for my wallet. Maybe some of it will be made available for premium members, for a limited time, like Chuck's Essay's? Or maybe not. Still really cool with some non-fiction, journalism stuff for those who can afford it.
Hey, thanks for opening some dialogue on this. I've had in mind to offer some excerpts for everyone to view, free of charge. For example, there's a thread from the Clevenger intensive that I copied to the Self-Assignment Workshop forum, here:
http://chuckpalahniuk.net/forum/1000424/what-hell-minimalism
That imparts some real information of stand-alone value for any writer who wants it, while also giving a taste of the level of discourse that goes on in our classes. Thanks for taking an interest. We may look at doing something like a "sample class" sometime, giving everyone more to look at than a single conversation thread. I've just got to balance that impulse to share and be open with retaining the value and even the privacy of people who sign up and pay for a class. Students often post unpublished work in an intensive that they may want to develop further and sell to a paying market. They don't mind sharing their works-in-progress with a small and tight-knit group of peers, but they wouldn't want it wide open on the net.
I'm glad to hear more comments or take some questions about our classes, if anyone wants to post those here.
Best,
Mark
