Those are amazingly tangible, useful, helpful reviews. Every one has concrete ways to improve the stories - and those ways are brilliant. And they're applicable beyond the work at hand.
Thanks Chuck.
yeah, maybe I'm biased since one of my stories is there, but overall, chuck's feedback was crazy good and in-depth. Way more than what I was expecting. Very good stuff.
Very lucky bunch of people. What other best-selling author does that kind of stuff for his fans????
As a new member to the cult, I would love to submit my work for consideration in this monthly contest. The post seems current so I hope the opportunity is still available, but I saw no information regarding submissions to assure me of such. Is it necessary to become a premium member of the writer's workshop to do so? If a veteran could please advise, I would appreciate it
The last month for submissions regarding the Chuck anthology was January 2010, however, it's apparently something that's being considered again should this first volume work out. Should that be the case, you can bet there will be some sort of formal announcement.
Right. As Brandon points out, we're not in a reading period for the Anthology at this time. The current news reflects very recent reviewing activity from Chuck, but it's also the wrap-up on submissions that entered our workshop several months ago. We're about to move on to the next phase of getting this work into print. Several steps and stages are entailed in this process.
In the meantime, our workshop provides an ongoing opportunity. That's the thing to consider. We don't run a contest here. There may be a bit of a contest atmosphere around the Anthology, but that's not our primary mission. We provide a Workshop that never sleeps and it's home to an awesome community of writers who learn a great deal from one another--as well as sharing in some exclusive resources like craft essays from Chuck.
You can't even post a story in our workshop without earning points from writing a few reviews first. So there's no instant way to get a story into consideration for this Anthology, even in a month that we're reading for it.
When a new selection period begins, with thoughts of Cult Anthology Volume II, writers who are already an active part of the community will stand a stronger chance of inclusion than those who come along later, motivated solely by the shot at publication. And that isn't because of any bias on our part or a weighted system to favor long-standing members, it's simply because people develop real chops in our workshop. Whatever you've already got can be made better.
Thanks guys for the prompt response and helpful info. I am looking forward to becoming a part of the community and learning from my peers as well as the materials Chuck provided.
