The State Of The Forums
Surfing around I saw one forum that had that sort of thing only they were calling it "internets."
Like you could give someone + or - so many internets. I liked it being called that and wouldn't mind us having it for no other reason than just saying the word "internets" over and over again.
One of the boards I used to frequent had points. You could give one + and one - in each 24 hour period. It immediately became abused. So it's very unlikely such a beast would ever appear here.
The is a pretty meaningless gripe, but how come we can quote every post except the very first one? It's no big whoop i don't think, just one of those constantly annoying things like getting a piece of roast beef stuck between your teeth and spending the rest of the day trying to tongue it out.
I have no idea what you're talking about...

No, you didn't. Nor did I say you did in my top post. Some people who replied to your "Bye" thread did though, and that's why I clarified it. What you did say, however, was that your thread would be deleted and that you'd be banned for posting it. Again, very melodramatic, and again, something that didn't happen. You also implied that you were told to "fuck off", which didn't happen either.
But most importantly, you clearly stated (no implications on this one) that you were leaving the forums.
What happened with that?

Also, I assumed it would be deleted and I would be banned, because it was discussing a PM and I'm not sure how far the rules go anymore, I've seen members banned for the same.
Actually, you're right, Six. You're "Bye" thread was discussing a PM between an Admin and you should have been banned for it. But that was back during our lenient days, which I spoke about above. We're in the new days now, where a person generally wouldn't call the webmaster of the site a "whiner". So my advice to you now would be to walk away from this thread, and be happy you're still here. You seem to need this place more so than most.

Please lets keep it on topic and not turn it into an inquiry about one person. That would be very much appreciated.
Thank you, Ritt.

Dennis and Co. chose to refocus the site around Chuck, workshop activity, and a more inclusive attitude towards newcomers. Why not ? Some think this change comes necessarily at the expense of the cohesiveness of the current membership, and of the forum's freedom of tone, I don't. To me it's an adjustment to make, with very real potential benefits.
Still, the new "editorial" direction of the forum should have been better publicised and explained BEFORE the changes were made. Long established habits, good or bad, are not so easy to break. Instead, our beloved management team chose to focus on the (welcome) technical improvements and the (justified) general optimism it brought to them in anticipation and didn't take this opportunity to make us swallow the "hard pill" at the same time.
My line of thought has always been "Dennis's place, Dennis's rules", and I don't like people whining about their particular case, but today floats an slight but uncomfortable feeling of repression and censorship among some members (as exemplified by the "Chuck irrelevant(amazon review)" case, and some doubt about the management's intentions. I'm not saying it is all justified, but it should be taken into account.

why are you people still talking about this?
It's very simple. They are notifying a simple warning that the ol' shenanigans people got away in the past aren't going to fly anymore. It isn't an open for suggestions thread.
End of Discussion.
End of Discussion.
in more ways than one.
I have a feeling this discussion is just about to start again.

....One week later.

You're a bit late to be joining in on this, Eldecoin.
If you have a gripe about something, why don't you start a new thread?
What happened to Nathaniel? Did he leave an I'm not gonna be around much message? I feel like we should have someone check on him, make sure he's not in Guantanamo, or muerte.

Assignment?
That kind of ignores the idea that maybe one can tell from any one of an insistant weirdoes posts that they might just be an idiot.
I've tried reading this five times and i still can't make head or tails from it. Is there a word missing between "one" and "of?" Is it two sentences mushed together?
Okay, I'm sorry. While I think that sentance was grammatically correct it was probably a syntactic nightmare and missed my original point. Then again, that's sarcasm for you.
Hey Nathaniel Parker, that's hilarious, I had spent like 3 minutes on it when I scrolled down to see your post. Then I guess he tried to explain it and now I'm even more confused.
Also... glad to see this thread brought such a drastic change around here in the couple years since it was started. Y'all should be ashamed, my first thread and you people have already angered me enough to tell someone to eat a dick. And I told all my friends on the Straight Edge forum that you were all fags. HA!!!
See what happens when you push me? EDGE!!
Great thread Dennis, many props on what you've created here. And judging from this thread alone it would appear that the mods are about the most welcoming, well spoken (written) folks here, everything Mirka said made perfect sense to me and I caught myself wondering if there is a place besides the internet where everyone explains their points so eloquently and how much a bus ticket there would cost.
I guess there's a few members who make the site slightly more desireable to come to with their threads. Maybe not, I only read this one. Whatever blaaaah.
john-boy, all the talk in this thread about treating people as equal goes both ways. you come here spouting non-sense and calling people names and telling them where to go, and you think we're gonna be nice to you? fuck no.
this is a community, that should be lesson one. if i went around your friends spouting my bullshit point of view and they made fun of me, and i called them cocksuckers, would you really stand around and defend me to them? fuck no.
you deserve what you get, for not letting shit go.
if you were looking for the emo-kid my little pony sing along, you came to the wrong place.

“...There are so many ways of being despicable it quite makes one's head spin. But the way to be really despicable is to be contemptuous of other people's pain. You ought to have some apprehension that the man you see before you was once even younger than you are now and arrived at his present wretchedness by imperceptible degrees.”

See what happens when you push me? EDGE!!
Do people really act like this?
There are quite some people here that are really great, so, your loss.
Pete swears he's not a newb, psshh.
Straight edge has to be one of the dumbest ideas ever. So stupid.

That's brilliant!
Shoot. I missed it. Could you do this 'EDGE' thing again? But this time, a little slower.
I think it's like that Lady Gaga song, right?
Someone* (not naming names) might or might not be going on assignment after reading Someone's* post.
Someone* might be packing his or her proverbial bags just to prove a point. Or maybe not. Besides proverbial bags are kinda hard to pack.
Someone* (again, not naming names) might just load up all that sharp pointy proverbial gear he or she may or may not have been storing in his or her basement for the last fifteen years and call the proverbial phone number that he or she may or may not have been carrying around in his or her proverbial pocket.
Proverbial might doesn't mean maybe. Proverbial might means power. Or maybe proverbial anything means mostly nothing.
(Not naming names) because that might incriminate said unknown Someone*. This unknown Someone* purportedly owns an edge. I know because unfortunately I have seen it. You have too. This edge is so fuckin' proverbial it could slice our thoughts in two. You know, it's the edge we shy away from. The edge we have spent our entire proverbial lives trying not to get too close to. We never want to get too close to anything proverbial.
We know what happens when people get too close to proverbial edges. They almost always fall and slice themselves.. Slice themselves in two.
Half people. You know some. We all do. We see them in the mirror every day. Someones we think we may or may not know, depending on the proverbial circumstances.
*Someone not being you or me or anyone we know.
Carousing around jibber-jabbering half-brained self-indulgent mind mash. Mind mash gushing out said unknown victim's trite plethora.
Sue me.
I feel more like I do now than I did before.
Holy lawyerism!

If you let Mister Straight Edge chase you away... the terrorists win.
Hey what about adding a friends list feature on here like on Litreactor?
Some sort of buddy list, perhaps?
Maybe where it can be viewed in our profiles?

I think it's brilliant. We should call it "Jacking" instead of the more obvious "Add Buddy."
And when you remove a friend from your list it'll say that your are "Jacking Off" Labelleza or whoever.

No need to be condescending. We don't need anymore condensation here.
Giving you guys gold here.
You see that little thing underneath the profile pic that has the green + sign?
Hover over that with your mouse and see what it says.
ugh I have buddies...I've lost my damn mind.

Karma discussion's kinda over, but just wanted to voice in case it goes further:
I'm a regular of another forum that uses karma, it's once an hour you can do it to a person, and you can't use it until you hit ten (i think it's ten, anyways). I don't see the point of it, It's like thread count, it only matters when you first join. The best cred is unwritten.
