The Cult Needs Book Reviewers!
Hey guys,
You may have noticed lately that we have unveiled a new section on the site wherein we unveil Book Reviews for old and new books alike. Here's that section:
http://chuckpalahniuk.net/reviews
Right now, we have two amazing people doing all the heavy lifting on this section. They are Tina Page and Josh Chaplinsky. Tina comes from the pedigree of writers from Kirk's awesome movie site SuitUpScene.com. And Josh is an old friend of mine who co-directed The Chuck Palahniuk Documentary and maintains a very awesome blog at TheJamminJabber.com.
They both have two things in common: They read prolifically and they both write very well.
Problem is, they're only two people, and we have a slew of publishers all sending us catalogs every month with new and re-releases.
So in short, we need a new reviewer to join our staff. This person has to have the following qualifications:
- Read a ton of books, at a very fast pace.
- Professional demeanor. Know how to edit and proofread their material.
- Some sort of samples online I could view.
This is a non-paying gig. We're looking for people who are looking to further their exposure as writers by contributing to a top site. We have relationships with most of the major and indie publishers out there and they're all hungry to get their books to us for review. This is a great opportunity to have your work recognized (maybe even quoted on a revied blurb) as well as get free books sent to you every month.
If you're interested in this gig, email me at Dennis @chuckpalahniuk.net.
If you have any questions about this, you can post them here for all to see and I'll answer them as best as I can.

Get the sugar. Get the sugar. Get the sugar.
This is a cool idea. I'd be up for it, I think. I'm a decent writer and I read a lot.
Can we do reviews of great books that we've stumbled upon, that we think the Cult would like, rather than just reviewing new publications?
thanks for sharing.blackhawk tactical pants.

Hey guys,
Just a reminder: Email me your queries. I've been getting PMs from people. And I hate PMs. Lol.
To answer your question, Xec, you can do whatever you want. Josh likes to review random books he's read. They don't have to be new released or books specifically sent from publishers. Yet he'll also participate that way and review new and upcoming books. Tina loves the idea of reading new releases, so she stays focused on that.
So in short, yes, you can review undiscovered books. In fact, publishers would probably love you for that. I get sent a ton of books that I can tell they're really pushing, but that I just don't have time to get to. And I'm sure many of these books are great and would love to see the light of day and be discussed on sites like ours.
Email me some samples of your review writing at dennis@chuckpalahniuk.net.
