Reporting Spam
Thanks to everyone that has been reporting on the spate of smambots recently by sending an abuse report. It's very helpful.
If you see a post that you think is spam, click the abuse button (next to quote or reply at the bottom of a post) and send us a quick note if you can.
You can use this to report other kinds of abuse as well such as harassment, flaming etc.
Thanks!
Abusing the abuse feature for lulz is a very bad and unfunny idea. I'm glad you were able to resist!
We had a member that was a little too sensitive for this place and reported several things a day. We finally had to explain that it was time to grow a thicker skin or move on. That was a couple of years ago.

nothing is as perfect as you can imagine it.

I bet it was a woman, wasn't it?
Your MOM was a woman. Zing!
...
Don't report me.
I'm inclined to believe that everyone without an avatar is spam...
Step back. Evaluate. Recognize.
agreed

2 more slayed, thanks, guys!
Depends on my mood and the nature of the threads. If you have to ask, you probably know the answer.
Dennis the webmaster? What are you talking about?
It really depends on the threads themselves, if they have content or not.
g-black. log out, take a nap. if you do not know the answer to this question, then simply dont spam the boards with nonsense. that rule is very much self explanatory. or you and the boards will be separated indefinitely. we missed you for a while. we dont need to keep missing you because you let some vague thinking get the better of you. i know that i dont have time to hold your hand.
so, my very young brother, please decultify for a while, or something. i do hope to see you in the coming weeks-

Yes. Let's ban Dennis for making so many threads on Dennis's website! WHO'S WITH ME?!
I totally forgot to use sarcasm font for that
First off, those aren't threads, they are images. Secondly, LOL, you can't be serious...
hahahaha he's not-

oh, I had no idea that when we update pages that it shows up as in "New Posts' to regular members. Both Dennis and I thought only admins could see that.
I have to add a bazillion books for the past book club reads. I'll try to pace it so it doesn't glut the new posts too much.
Here I was thinking that new news items, images, & such ought to appear in Recent Posts. I can see how it would be annoying (slightly, maybe) if you were here strictly to hang in General Discussion and shoot the breeze, but it seems to me that this is still chuckpalahniuk.net and the emphasis is still on CP-related news and material.
Grain of salt.
This is why we can't have nice things.
Well, we do want people to see when we add new book pages or photos to the Gallery, of course. It shows what something is when you are looking at 'New Posts', it says if it's a forum topic, a blog, a photo etc.
I think it's better to pace them so they don't flood New Posts but we can't always do that, because we all work when we have a chunk of time. If I need to add 10 new books for a new author exclusive, I'm not going to post 2, wait two hours and post 2 more. I'll probably blast through it all at once.
If you just hang out in GD, go to the GD forum and keep refreshing if you are annoyed.
Does anyone else think there is, like, this secret East Indian cabal of slaves that are being forced to join websites to push their boss/owner's spam?
It is just creepy the level these spambots are going to now with avatars. and some of them are even starting to fill out profiles. And they're obvious spam. A real member wouldn't join here and in their first post start hawking patio furniture or whatever.
There's got to be some real person behind these being forced to do it.

I admit that I thought about reporting this thread as spam for the lulz. I didn't though, because I'm a big boy.
I haven't even seen a spambot around here for a while. Probably because ya'll iz so quick to act! Good job!
