“...There are so many ways of being despicable it quite makes one's head spin. But the way to be really despicable is to be contemptuous of other people's pain. You ought to have some apprehension that the man you see before you was once even younger than you are now and arrived at his present wretchedness by imperceptible degrees.”
-James Baldwin
The Workshop has been a premium feature since 2004. We found charging a nominal fee ensures a more mature level of participation. Plus it costs money to maintain it.
You mean Baroque? I'm wondering the same thing. Did you used to be a member 5 years ago?
Why don't you delete the 'Free Membership" link?
Oh, and the maturity makes sense.
Forty dollars is a bit much for me. Darn,
maybe in a few months.
And nope, only been hanging around here the past month or so.
the site does offer free membership. it's the premium package, though, that costs, for the reasons meerk mentioned above.
and hey, welcome to the cult !!

Free membership for the writer's workshop...?
sorry, confused. check the writer's workshop page to understand why...
it says 'free membership'. (which obviously doesn't have all the perks, but the link to free membership doesn't work)
You already have a free membership, which is why you can't access the "Free Membership" page.
If you read the rest of the page it tells you that "Premium Membership" gives you access to the workshop.

Eh?
Step back. Evaluate. Recognize.
