I don't see how hell will break loose because a member who deserved to get banned, did.

In my experience of internet forums, whenever someone says that all hell is going to break loose in a thread, it usually doesn't.

It's like, reverse psychology or something!

Anyway, at least we got a thread to make it official instead of having all sorts of crazy theories being posited everywhere. I don't imagine it was easy to ban Six, because she has a lot of friends here, myself included, so, you know, give a dudette a break here.

It was hard, Phil. She was given several breaks, but we just finally ran out of breaks to give her.

here here. she is often rude, but we all love her anyway. She sometimes needs a bit of a swift kick in the behind.

Can this be made policy? It seems a lot more even-handed if it's policy, instead of case-by-case.

Not answering for Mirka, but I believe it was stated in the past that it is not owed to the forum to let who was banned and for what. I understand people like to know why so and so isn't posting as of late or what have you but in reality, sometimes we don't find it necessary to make it everyone's business. For example, I'm sure you could care less that I banned a some newb spammer this week for advertising some crap site.

Again, I get you're concerned, and these are my two cents, which don't mean anything, but I don't see it being made a policy, although I could be wrong. I have been wrong before... once.

If I didn't know what she's like I'd have wanted to kick her in the face with pretty much every response she's ever made to any of my posts, but I just learned to ignore it and toss it right back. She's got spunk, so I like her anyway, but I totally understand the ban.

I'm so disappointed right now.

When are the offended newer members to get busy posting, seeing as how they can now do so without being skaert?

It's eerily silent, but there sure seemed to be a lot of free time to post up until today.

that's how it was put to me.. it really is no one else' business. it's kind of like a mod or administrator--after banning a member--calling out that member and sharing things about them when they cant visit the thread and offer their say. but.. in some cases, it involves more than a few members at once.

As a moderator, I don't see why they need to post/defend themselves. I believe, if anything, they are doing the right thing by not getting involved in here in order to prevent any more drama that people here might be looking to stir. Again, the ban was made public in order to let people know about Six. It wasn't created so her banning or it's validity can be up for discussion.

Maybe threads like these could be locked so as to not allow any discussion therein once the announcement has been made.

I'm sorry about 6, hopefully she will be back soon.

Personally, I hadn't noticed a single thing she had posted that constituted a ban, let alone offense being taken. But I also do not follow every single topic or know in any way what may or may not be going on behind the scenes as much as a moderator would know.

But, hey, she can be banned in peace with the knowledge that she was great enough for a big old topic to discuss it.

Deserve's got nothing to do with it. Mricpx says she's been hostile to more than new members--who the fuck hasn't? You can't convince me this ban was just without convincing me that half of this forum should be banned.

Chat logs are being read through, Six is banned for an undefinable amount of time, and what's worse is that she has to come back to a place she made home seven years ago and feel like a black sheep at the dinner table. I went to bed with a WHOLE CHICKEN and woke up with a GIANT ORANGE COCK in my ass.

All this over a fucking newb? It's disappointing, pathetic, and... can nobody weigh anything? Instead of admins banning people or not banning people and wasting their time thinking on it, more often than not forcing a ban and then revoking it, sometimes apologizing for it, can't it just be learned that this isn't a wall, that you aren't holding a gun, that nobody is going to seize the fort if you let shit that doesn't matter slide? Can nobody sit the fact of a newb's hurt feelings on one side of a scale and the act of banning a longtime member of the community, starting a thread that will inevitably be filled with drama, and invading the privacy of pseudo 'private' messages, on the other side of that scale, and just take a step back, look at the fucking scale, and realize that the world won't implode if shit that isn't the slightest bit significant is simply left alone?

Not to mention that if you felt you absolutely had to make some action to rectify this newb's hurt feelings, you could have went with a one week ban and called it a day. This is a community, right? This is certainly a community specific incident. What I'm trying to say is that despite the rules, the guidelines (which by the way, the newb in question unknowingly made a bannable offense by posting PMs, and you won't ban her for it, so don't get technical on me as I stray from the technical here), this, being a community, I feel the most important things to take into consideration are the effects directly related to each individual--the time Mirka wasted is tragic, the fact that I'm pissed and making this post is ridiculous, the fact of Six finding a place in chat to waste time and then losing it-- these things are as important as the newb's hurt feelings.

Honesty: I think the knowledge that this was going to piss me off should have been enough to let it slide. I don't mean to say I think myself holy, what I mean is that this situation really, really is just that insignificant. It wasn't worth the paper work.
