I got to admit, I'm a little disappointed. I had hoped that with such a small theatrical run for it, that Choke would have taken off and really found a life of it's own once it got to DVD.
For it to have become this cool little "cult" following movie that, while never really having a chance to match up with Fight Club, would have been able to stand out on it's own.

Granted there's a lot of flaws with it, but the movie Gregg finished with, considering what all he had to work with and the constraints, I thought for sure it was going to end up with that cheap Roger Corman kind of direct to video feel to it. But it doesn't at all, it looks sharp and as polished as any of the other huge budget dramas from last year.

And how can you go wrong with Sam Rockwell? The guy is just amazing in anything he does. Seriously, I dare you to find a movie with him in a bad role. He's just one of those actors that I've always just felt like it was obvious for him to play a Chuck character and it was cool to see the one he got was Victor.

Now if they can only get Timothy Olyphant for the lead in another of Chuck's books...

But I digress. Hopefully with Choke being on cable now, that'll give it even more exposure and even more fans from it being on constantly for the next month or so.
I look forward to watching it for a second time tonight and see what all I might've missed the first time.

Is a blu-ray release ever going to happen? Obviously I can see how, without more monetary success, releasing in blu-ray might not make sense. I would much rather buy it in high-def than standard DVD, however.

I would imagine eventually down the line, they'd release one. Of course, it might not be until regular DVDs have gone the way of the Dodo and Blu-Ray is the only thing going, but still.
