'Choke' Movie Casting News!
.
i have nothing against titties and va jay jay, absolutely nothing, but this is just too unpredictable for our members at the workplace. too much legality involved as well--some members are under eighteen: that's a federal offense here in the us of a, and very unwarranted.

play hard, like it's work to be done.
Funny how you always forget these perfect choices...
Angelica Houston will be great as Ida.
Gonna make it a point to watch all these movies that Kelly MacDonald has been in to judge her acting ability. Definately cute enough.
No one has the right to teach us stuff we don't want to learn. That's what our Bill of Constitution's all about.
Absolutely ecstatic to hear that the process is finally getting underway- Choke is easily my favourite by the only Chuck that's better than Norris.
Not so sure about Brad Henke as Denny myself, though- not unless he slims down like, majorly. I always pictured Denny as being lanky and weedy.
Angelica Houston and Kelly MacDonald look perfect, though.
Brad Henke is exactally the way I pictured Denny. I was worried they were going to pick the wrong person to play Denny, but they nailed it! I can't wait!
Sam Rockwell is perfect. He's anonymous looking, yet slightly slimy.
This signature does not quote anything. Evar.
Is there any way any us Cultists be in the movie as extras?
The Catmother of all Worldwide Cats
I'm really worried about this guy playing Denny. I don't care how great a script, director and Sam Rockwell are, I think it's that role of Denny that's going to make or break this film being incredible.
Here's hoping the guy can pull it off.
Great news, Choke is probably my favourite Chuck book and its going to be great seeing Chuck get more recognition.
I think Kelly McDonald will be a huge hit, I hadnt seen her since Trainspotting.
Sitting here thinking about it, I think I do like them getting someone not well-known for Denny. Yeah, it'd be great to have some big name actor for the role, but if you do that then it's really going to have that Fight Club comparision between Norton and Pitt. This way, I think they got a lot better chance for the movie to be seen on it's own terms and not a sequel to Fight Club.
I feel like the casting for Paige is so off...but the other seem okay.
Kelly McDonald rocks the Casbah.
It still seems weird that they're finally getting another movie going. It's hard to believe it's been 8 years now since Fight Club, 9 by the time this comes out.
I love Angelica! I was hoping and praying for Gel Close, but this is perfect. I too picture Denny more skinny, and sneaky, but this guy looks like a good guy. All others are good.

Cast sounds great! Can't wait to see it. I pictured Denny a bit chubby, with his chubby bottom crack hanging out when he is in the stocks.
I am very excited and can not wait for this movie to be released.
The actors are all very good in my opinion.
:)
:)
This answers a big question for me. Choke.

Looks good. I guess I'll be re-reading CHOKE soon.
the guy playing denny is cute.
but I always envisioned denny as tall and thin and bald for some reason.
kind of like chuck.

I just got a June 2nd version copy of the script. I'm on page 8 and so far so good. I hate movies that don't follow the book and this one looks like it'll follow the book very well.

you got a link or anything for that?
The funny thing is i always pictured Ida as Angelica Huston only slightly thinner even when she wasn't in the hospital.
I am almost finished reading Choke again and i must say i think it will be spectacular to see Brad Henke play Denny.
They have done brilliently with the casting.
I think anyway
this has the potential to be a great movie... nice casting... but take out all the hair on the denny guy and he will be perfect.. I always imagine denny bald too...I will be there on opening night for sure
There is an IMDB page now for this

Hello!!! there are 3 people here asking for a link man!
Wow, the cinematography they selected is great.

He's an Oscar winner even. Some of the big films he's shot:
Miami Vice
Collateral
Memoirs of a Geisha
Chicago
Equillibrium
So now, not only is the cast great, but the film itself is going to look amazing.

Oh, cool. So Dennis, do you know about this script?

Brentinlouis Wrote: What was that rule about being intentionally annoying?
I haven't read it yet, but yes, I'm aware it's out there.
I think I'll wait till someone else leaks it on the net before we post it here. I want to respect the privacy of the production, until I feel it's okay to let the fans see what Gregg wrote.

I think they should just use Edward Norton and Brad Pitt again. Edward Norton as Victor, and Brad Pitt as Denny. They'd be awesome together again, they have great chemistry together, and the dark world Chuck creates is just amazing acted out by those guys.
thats ecsactilly how i pictured everyone except denny
Choke was definetly my favorite of Chuck's so far, and the cast was picked out beautifully! Denny is the spitting image of what chuck made him be in my mind. :];)
angelica huston would be awesome.
I am reading the book for the 4th time now...getting really excited for the movie...even the costume designer has been involved with some good flicks...
Jacob's Ladder
Almost Famous
Starship Troopers
this should be good!
Not sure what "tone" they're going for with the film version, but I just picked up the new Queens of the Stone Age CD and there's a song on there called "Make It Wit Chu". I've listened to it about 1000 times already. The song kicks ass! It would fit perfectly as a closing sequence/ end credits track. Sometimes I wish I had a say in shit like this. Oh well.

small article with sam talking about choke here..
Rockwell Is ‘Choke’-d Up For New Role
First rule of working on a Chuck Palahnuik flick: Don’t talk about working on a Chuck Palahnuik flick. Unless it’s to MTV News, of course. “It’s a very strange, strange film,” Sam Rockwell said of his new movie “Choke,” based on a novel from the acclaimed author of “Fight Club.”
“It’s about a sex addict and he’s got this thing,” Rockwell revealed about his character, Victor Mancini. “He goes into restaurants and makes himself choke on food so he can get someone to come up to him and give him the Heimlich maneuver and save his life. It’s a way for him to get this strange, unconditional love, this childhood memory. He gets stirred up every time he does this choking thing.”
But Mancini’s dementia goes deeper than being just a sicko who gets his jollies from near asphyxiation, Rockwell asserted. Like all the great Palahnuik protagonists, Mancini has hidden motives. “Anybody with a little bit of money — he’ll look at their watches and stuff — and then he corresponds with them and says, ‘Oh, how are you doing?’ They feel like a hero,” Rockwell contended. “And then he says ‘Oh, but I have to go to the periodontist, my gums hurt,’ and they say, ‘Let me send you some money.’” So it’s a bit of a scam he does, with his choking thing.”
Dennis, get nagging Gregg and ask if you can hide the script somewhere on the site. Have us all look for it like some sort of hunt, or something. I'm guessing, judging from the cinematographer, that it's going to be a shadow-filled dark comedy, like the book. Good good. Also, Nate, don't do that. I got excited for a second that there was in fact a screenplay floating around, but my hopes were shot down.
I remember when i got caught in class reading Choke. My teacher confiscated it, it was fantastic. The look on her face was the best part.

I love that they got someone from Trainspotting to be in Choke. Irvine Welsh is my second favorite author after Chuck, so that's pretty cool. And Huston is definitely perfect for Ida.
Rockwell... did he play Sid Vicious in Sid and Nancy? I guess I could see him as Victor, but I think he's a lil too sexy and carries himself too well to play the role (as I see it n e wayz). :gives:

Kelly McDonald is Scottish thus making her a superior actress to any/all American slut/hor/shoplifter/drunk driving/absent mother/anorexic actress. Do not fuck with me I know Buzz Osbourne personally. Fuck You!

The one I saw had Gary Oldman as Sid. Don't know if there was another one with Rockwell or not.

There was only one Sid & Nancy, do not ever insult me or Alex Cox like that again!

Oh and by the way Angelica Houston is a terrible choice. Kristy Mcnichol is by far the superior actress and would be the perfect Ida.

Great news! Thanks for the update.
