A thread for those who have read the ARC *SPOILER RIDDEN*
Incase the topic title didn't do the job : DO NOT READ THIS THREAD UNLESS YOU HAVE ALREADY READ SNUFF OR WANT THE PLOT/ENDING SPOILED TO HELL!!!!!!
Now that that's out of the way : What did everyone else think of the book? I like it, but for the first time ever I felt slightly disappointed at the end. I guess because I spent upwards of 100 bucks on it and I'm done not 24 hours later. Still, it was definitely an interesting and unique read, like all of Chuck's work. The thing that constantly amazed me about it was how different it felt for a Chuck Palahniuk novel. All his signature elements were there, the information dumps, the choruses, etc, but it's all very straightforward and not as convoluted as some of his other books. I never felt like I had an "Aha!" moment where I figured everything out like in his previous novels. Also, it was not nearly as graphic as some of his other novels (not a criticism or a compliment, just an observation), which I found interesting given the subject matter. Or maybe I'm just completely desensitized to being grossed out anymore. All in all it was an excellent read, I was just left feeling a little empty after the ending. I did quite like the surprise surrounding the situation of who Cassie's illegitimate child was, but I also kind of saw it coming. I'm sure I will be re-reading it again before too long, though, and that's usually when I make my final opinion. Oh, and I know that that didn't spoil much of anything, but I figure once the discussion kicks in there will be spoilers-a-plenty.
