i dont know.  i imagine it's has more to do with the author and book grinding an estimation of what the publisher will sell overall than anything else.  there were far fewer arc copies of the road by cormac mccarthy than what's normally pressed for chuck, and i image there werent many of them made for fight club in the beginning..

i think, with snuff, there were probably a thousand or a few thousand. it is a highly anticipated book, with the choke movie coming out and fight club movie made and many more in the process of whatever

but i would guess, on an average for a new author, maybe closer to one hundred

but i dont KNOW either

I'd imagine it would be under the 1000 mark. If there were thousands of these things out there, the market would be flooded and ARCs would not be selling for 50-100 dollars. Then again, looking at other ARCS on eBay, the final going prices seem to be linked to the popularity of the author. Authors I've never heard of have ARC's going for 10-20 bucks but stuff like Chuck and other more "high-profile" (I use quotes because most people I know STILL don't recognize Chuck by name, or consider him to be popular) authors goes for the big bucks. And yet paperbacks of Rant, which also doesn't come out till May, are starting out at ending between 3-10 dollars. I'm going to go ahead and get mine now!

I really am looking forward to Snuff. I hope to catch him on his next tour and would love it if it were closer since the dive to Miami was too far. I'll probably be driving on my own by then though. I have to agree with almost everything Kabol said, it's an awesome experience to see an artists work develop and grow overtime and be able to be there along for the ride. I've been reading his books for a few years now and really do enjoy them. Of course I don't think my parents would ever want to read them. I do recommend them to friends and half always end up enjoying them.

i loved it.  got an arc a few weeks ago.

while my woman was reading it, she would from time to time put it down and hold an oh-gross look and say This is fucking discusting, and then in in a second or two would grub the book back up and excitedly commence.  chuck calls it his "apalling book", but the word "raunchy" stuck out most in my mind

the way fans often equate novels to previous novels or pictures to earlier pictures or albums to first albums, i think it could be said safely that snuff most closely resembles invisible mosters, or at least to me.  except that im was like a glamour magazine and snuff is like a live porno

it releases May 20th and i look forward to buying the hard cover and reading it again right away.
