I like the cover. It's reminiscent of 70s porn, plus you have the deep throat style lips which also look like they're off one of those inflate-a-dates (like on Welsh's Porno cover). And the sexy/scary female silhouette getting swallowed by it all? I like it!

I like the cover, I want, I want, I want!!!!! I hope they dont bastardise the European one like they did with Rant.

Yeah, I'm concerned about that as well. The Aus. Rant cover was ok, but nowhere near as good as the U.S. one. I'm curious now.
If Chuck Palahniuk really wanted to mix things up this book would be about snuff that you put up your nose. The brown stuff!
I'm sorry, but the plot sounds retrded.
I mean, is it all about just blowing us away with these ridiculous ideas? Cause sex... well... it's not that interesting.

I never personally have liked the plot of the book, but that doesn't mean I won't get it the day it comes out and finish it that day. I loved the survivor cover and hated the haunted cover to it's a toss up and doesn't really affect how good the book will be.

As long as the characters are well developed that's what important to me. I don't want to read about moms that bake cookies and dad's that toss footballs with their kids....I hear about that everyday....it's certainly not a bad thing at all, i just don't want to read about it...also, i get my daily dose of soccer moms and fathers playing sports with their kids from watching a Mitt Romney commercial.

hmm I'm not totally sold on that cover... C- must try harder!
but I love the plot idea so I'm really looking forward to it.
Yeah, well... I just havge this sinking feeling that sexual fantasies and fucked up characters ARE Chuck's soccer moms and footbal dads... They are now his conventions.
Without them, he'd have to be original all over again, rather than recycling his old characters ideas ad nauseum....
Fight Club was hands down a great breakthrough novel, great originality, the whole package. Survivor too. But Choke, Monsters, Rant, most of Haunted... they feel more like the novels he would've written before he'd polished his craft well enough to pull off something as original as Fight Club.
And that is hard to live down, having such a great breakout novel with such a well-done movie adaptation to put you on the map in so many different ways.
So sure, I'll give it a read standing in the bookstore to see if it's worth my dime (I just wish I'd done that with Rant) Maybe it will be good, and if so, I too will be one of the many who strap a brown paper bag over the outside like we did back in grade school... cause seriously, that IS an awful cover.

I think it's a helluva better cover than the one for Rant.
Dennis can only post a couple of news items at a time, he can't flood us all with new information everyday. Give him a chance, he might be holding in a for a big huge one come the new forum.
I don't know. it's a cover. I don't love it or hate it. It's just...a cover.
But May 2008 is waaaaaaay too friggin' long from now. This is such a cock tease. I don't appreciate it.
Cover... meh.
Idea... Not super creative but I still think I might like it as long as he doesn't go with 'trying to be outlandish as possible again'
I don't want to be the one she tells her deep dark secrets to.
I want to be her deep dark secret

Boooo. The american rant cover is the only one I like.
This book was written off a bet from his editor, or agent. The challenge was to write the most disgusting book, in history, I guess. It didn't interest me when he explained it at the reading. Lots of body fluids flying around. And expect outlandish, he said it was "a real complex book." He also gave away a major plot point.
SPOILER
One of the actor's waiting to fuck the porn star is her son. Since he never really knew her, this is his way of getting close to her. And her whole thing is to fuck as many men as she can until it kills her. Then, I don't know, necrophilia.
Well, i hope that wasn't a big twist on the book...
I think the cover is kinda funny.
I like it. A lot. Reminds me of '70s pulp - both book and film. Kinda pop art grindhouse.
Though the book jacket declaration that Snuff " . . . brings the huge yet underacknowledged presence of pornography in contemporary life into the realm of literary fiction at last" seems a reach at best.
and to think i offered to design a book cover for him when i wrote him a letter.. and he said that he had someone who designed them for him.. the shit isn't that good
snuff tins! my grandad has been using it for so long his little fingers on each hand have gone permanently brown from being dipped in the stuff. though writing a whole book about that shit would be funny!
Chuck is a fucking genius
I am waiting for the St. Helen's pre-order. I want this autographed. I also want a book tour with a Texas stop. Too much to ask?
