Two More Weeks!
14 more days until brand new Chuck-age.
I'm geeked!
That is going to be a very, VERY good couple of weeks. :headbang:
I've never been less stoked about a Chuck release.
Which pretty much says how disappointed I was with Haunted.
Still, pretty cool. If I had the money, though, it'd go for a RUSH ticket.
When we call soccer 'football' the terrorists have won.
Don't delete! You're right, the short stories were pretty good, some of them very good. It's that awful connective material, especially the verse abortions presented as poetry that sucked ass.
When we call soccer 'football' the terrorists have won.
I'm going to admit, I didn't, and still haven't, and won't, read any of those poetry things. I read the first one and didn't like it. Also, did anyone else see the post in that top thread?
What letter thing? Did you try to unabomb Chuck?
When we call soccer 'football' the terrorists have won.
jeezuz, rod. youre depressing the fuck outta me
honestly, though. you had to know that haunted was an experiment in something new. it was canterbury tales, just shorter and updated with a lot of harsh shit. it wasnt supposed to be survivor, or fight club. chuck, man, he already wrote those. he's still got some fantastic books left in him, im sure. this looks to be his most audacious novel to date. talk about non-linear. from what ive read about it, there is no secret code. you have to read everything to get the full story. it's not going to whisper sweet nothings to you along the way. what i havent read is whether this will--or not--draw honest, genuine emotion out of the reader. that's what im looking for. and though i did enjoy haunted a great deal for the fun reads, i did not feel the accumulative affect that a novel more often than not offers. this should, though. im hoping. so, im fucking excited. geeked. stop depressing me. cheer with me. and stuff

what if it starts showing up in stores a few days before it supposed to be released like Haunted did?
or even a week early!
The indigo store in the Eaton Centre has Rant in stock and seems to have broken the street date! I picked up a copy yesterday.
I'm fully expecting to be able to pick up my copy sometime this week
I may start calling ALL the bookstores around here to see if they got it out yet
not so much out of a rush to get the book but to start a little buzz at each one about "People are calling in to see if we have this particular new release?"
a lot of small stores will do that. they wont count the sell but rather log it and then opening day will ring all the past sells up. congratz on the find. sometimes amazon send books a few days early. hopefully, around tuesday or wednesday i can scrounge the moneys to order mine and it'll get here by friday or saturday. that is, instead of a week after the first

I think St. Helen's is shipping now. I had two gift purchases made for me & am so thrilled that I am getting them soon.
Good coffee is like drinking Rock and Roll.
I wish there was more I could do to try to get this book to #1
I can't afford to go out and buy 20 copies and I've told the couple people I know that read books regularly about it
oh well, I'll keep my fingers crossed
I'll check it out from the library and wait to buy it in paperback.
I prefer paperbacks.

Thanks for that, bearchaser.
I was losing sleep wondering about your purchasing preferences .

I just got back from Borders and making the guy look to see when it's coming out and while he was putzing around on the computer some other girl clerk came up and was asking me about it and Chuck and told me she had read Fight Club and Survivor, and I told her how Survivor was probably his best and she said how "out there" it was and I said if she wanted "out there" to try Invisible Monsters and by this time I'm really starting to feel sick from that sub I ate early and dickhead is still fooling with the computer and he finally turns around and says May 1st! and I just want to grab him by the neck and say "Don't lie to me asshole! I know you got it from you distributor today! Go back there and get me one!" but he's just a young kid and probably doesn't know and is trying to do his job as best he can, so I let him live but after he says I ain't gettin' it today I kind of just walked off in the middle of conversation with girl-clerk about Chuck.
I felt bad about that afterwards but UGH I didn't feel good and telling her I was sick is a lame excuse to walk away.

I prefer paperbacks.
same here, i always prefer reading paperbacks--less bulky, easier to hold. but i always seem to buy the book opening week and then turn around and sell it a half year later to pay for the softcover purchase

does anyone know if you preorder from borders, do they ship it to you, or do you have to pick it up?

I did my letter thing by the way. I know no-one else did. But I played my part.
