Simms age according to Chuck. SPOILER ALERT
I know we;ve been over this several times but we have an update. Monk just attended the Strand signing and he did me a favor and questioned Chuck about the age of Simms. Not only did Mink say that chucks reply was that Green was between the age of 70 and 80 but he said that Chuck was stumped by the question. Am I trying to figure out an question that not even Chuck has the answer to? Am a on the right track with the following...
Follow me on this one. Green/Charlie is 23 years old when crashes into Echo, who is eight at the time. He goes back 60 years. This means that by the time he reaches the point from where he first went back, his is 83. And Echo is 8. I'm not sure if Echos age is ever mentioned but she is definitely old enough to drive. Let's say 16. This is 8 years after the crash which then puts Greene at 89. Do you see my logic and why I am lost? If Ech is older than this, which I think she is, it only adds to Greens age. In other words, if Echo is 25, This would mean Green is 98. Am I missing something?
I've about given up on ever finding out the whole age thing. Unless it's explained more in another book, I'm just going to go with him being in his 90's. Which still doesn't explain why an old fogey is party crashing, let alone being allowed to drive.
Old people behind the wheel = my pet peeve. What you think about Chucks answer?
I think it puts him right on level with the rest of us. He's got no idea of his age either.
Now I wonder how much research he did into all this time travel stuff, or if he just ran with it because it made a good story.

Cramming it all in one book would be overwhelming. I wish he would 've answerd like he knew what he was saying or that he could tell that someone had done their homework. It would've been reassuring. It's not fair to open up someones mind about these subjects and then offer no closure. I mean, I know it's fiction but still.
I think that because he's his own father, grandfather, or whatever that even though he may be old, he still looks and acts rather young.
plus, doesn't the book say that if you can kill your parents before they had you then you will never die or some bullshit... but then again, his mom/wife/daughter/whatever is still alive so who knows whats happening

This is about the only explanation I can come up with, that once you kill your parents you become immortal and look like you're in your early twenties or something. Still doesn't explain why Chester/Rant was able to grow older raising himself. Maybe Simms came back after a time when he had already killed his family?
My guess would be that how each time when he has sex with another generation and he gets that "high" etc and has his amazing smelling ability etc he also gets a bit healthier and can live longer. If I was Chuck I'd probably add something like: In the Bible Adam and Eve live 900 years so you know.
It's never too late to stop killing people.
Chuck loves the confusion, the fuzzy logic and lack of "true" facts. Wasn't it clear in the book that all of this stuff - time travel, generation tampering - becomes fiction? I think the rules just don't apply anymore...
...in an oral history, the dates, times, and most details are going to be off, the point is the story, and not how it all fits together perfectly like puzzle pieces, but where the parts and pieces over lap, somewhere in the middle exists the truth, so go with your gut feeling, or whatever you want, but what is we're only aware of like 10% of our surroundings, so these people who are interviewed and who discuss about Rant their stories aren't going to be perfect,
:wizard:
ah...what the fuck is wrong with me...rambling on about the same point for ages...just going crazy...now then pass out time!
