Rant Movie Adaptation Idea

Just an idea I had...

If/when Rant is adapted to a movie there should be a dramatic montage at the part when Rant sets the tree on fire / Police chase / time travel crash. Following the Medius-Res style of writing, the montage would cut between scenes during the chase and scenes leading up to it (at the gas station). All in slow motion, and to the tune "I'm on Fire", preferably the Bat for Lashes cover version.

Listen to the song here... http://www.pitchforkmedia.com/article/download/45880-new-music-bat-for-lashes-im-on-fire-bruce-springsteen-cover-live-on-fair-game-mp3-stream

I think that if they do make this movie, they'd have to be careful about how they do it. the style would be tricky at some points to adapt into an interesting movie. as for brad pitt and ed norton, i dont think that they really belong here. pitt is gettin too old for any character except maybe Chet casey. and norton has no part at all. but thats just my opinion.

I agree with the above from Simms. A book written as an oral biography would be something hard to turn into a movie. Sitting here imagining it in film, it makes think that it would turn into a dramatic version of vh1's 'I Love The 70's' or something. It would show bits and pieces of what happened and go back and forth over the witnesses interpretations. There's a possibilty of making it work. A great cast and crew would make it possible. I also agree that Pitt and Norton would be not be very good choices. Though, they are good actors and did a fantastic job in 'Fight Club', 'Rant' is nothing like that. I don't think that they would fit in with this story very well. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens.

Christina Ricci as Echo Lawrence

It would be awesome if they stuck to the book and Rant was never shown in the movie.

When I finished the book I gave this some thought and I thought this would work nicely with a large screen that shows the story being told and a smaller screen that zooms in and out to show the current speaker and their name and other information. The speakers would all just be sitting in a big grey room and as the camera switched to them the box would zoom out and say "Echo Lawrence ( Party Crasher)" then zoom back in as she told her story. It would help enforce the idea that this is a re-telling of someone's life more than it is a film of their life.

It could be a documentary about the life of Rant. "The TImes of Harvey Milk" and a recent documentary about Roman Polanski spring to mind. But, why would you make a documentary when there's boosting technology.

They could say that its a boost with only audio and visual tracks.

ok dude check this out.
i seriously think that WHEN they do make the Rant movie Fincher needs to direct it mos def. he could make it dark and gritty like fight club, which is exactly how i see Rant, almost like a mix between alpha dog and fight club. i really think they should try to incorperate ecstasy into the movie too. to help give people that feeling of euphoria when they party crash and time travel. and the movie would have a killer soundtrack, if done right. this could make this the movie of MY generation. and plus, if im not mistaken isnt the movie suppose to be in the distant future?? thats wut i pictured in my head. if the movie is done the way i see it in my head i think it can easily be THE movie of my generation

Chuck's said he imagined it taking place during the 70's when he wrote it.
