Party crashing = sex?
As I read the book I felt that party crashing was a methaphor to sex. Specially in the part when he describes the "pity bumps"(or something like that, I don´t have the book here but I will quote on it on later posts). Does anyone feel the same or is just my sick mind?
I think its more like party crashing = fight clubs. its the release for them in the same way the fight club was a release.
On page 202 it reads... SPOILERS
If you havent read rant do as the emoticon indicates
:outtahere
Shot Dunyun: "...in mercy crashing the second you pull your bumper out of some pock-marked, saggy, rusted rear end, you regret not just going home without making any tag. You can feel so dirty and sad, you don`t bother to get out and yell. You just nail and bail, nail and bail...."
"What`s worse is you can picture yourself after a few more years of party crashing, dragging your crumpled rear end around, hoping somebody`s bored or desperate enough to nail you" "...its unbearable to see the driver... Most likely that`s you in a few more years"
I have related party crashing to the hunting for sex that occurs every night in every city of the world, everytime you go out, dress yourself up, try to look good, for what? ultimately to find out one person to bang, and who hast nailed someone out of mercy? have you never do that? the feeling of thinking that you should have gone home without that particular nail, is very familiar. If you are alone looking for sex, sometimes as you see others, you feel you are watching yourself some years in the future, alone, going out at night trying to get to nail or be nailed. And I have seen too many of this old crumpled cars driving around town.
Im not saying that it has sexual innuendo in the book universe, but I see a pararell to it in real life.

welcome man. I see some sexuality in fight clubs too. But I understand what you point about the "release", it was that part , the mercy crashing, is when I think that I see something more. Until that part, its was just cars crashing. The guy is great at writing I think. Your username is something too. I salute you "7"
for sure a metaphor for sex, and a good one too, i think
I agree and it never even crossed my mind until you brought it uo Kakunn. Good work dude.
Bitches just can't look past a couple of scabs on your gentitals..
what fightclub was for the white collor genaration, party crashing is for confused suburban teens

basically...sex
wow that's a very interesting discovery, well its not really a discovery but its still cool. i think u might be right
If you've read this book without surviving a car crash then you've missed out. I think the whole theme of the book, with the Party Crashing in particular, is about young people desperately trying to have "real" experiences. A car wreck is about one of the most adrenaline-injected highs you can get and it will shake you out of boredom damn quick. There's an exuberance to it that screams this very exciting second I AM ALIVE, I AM COMPLETE. If you want to compare this with fight club look at it the way the mechanic said, "You had a near-life experience." People are boosting peaks to try to meet their expectations of how their lives should be in comparison to the exaggerated shit you get from boosts. Like sensationalized TV today people start to think their lives are dull by comparison. So people start Party Crashing and then wanting rabies, which causes them to loose the ability to boost (like Shot). Eventually people become aware of the danger their getting into but can no longer escape into simulated life experiences like boosts. Reread rant with this in mind and see what you think. There is so much that adds up to this.
Thanks in advance for your comments,
Brodie.
Beware comfort; avoid it.
I agree...it seems like a logical association.

Looks like Spunck's life is dull and pointless.
I completely understand what you're getting at but i have to agree with the whole just wanting to feel something real and make the participants have that rush and feel alive.
You can't believe in anyone else
I respectfully disagree with both the ideas about fight clubs and party crashing being metaphors for sex. Not that these are unreasonable ideas and theories. just that i think that these characters in both cases are looking for something more than sex. sex is good and all, but its just one more thing that everyone looks for. party crashing and fight clubs are, among other things, a way of setting yourself apart from the normal group. these are ways of defining yourself in a way that you choose, not being defined for something you hate, but something you love. These are about being alive and not having to worry about everyone else for a change. its about wanting something to be yours, not some hand-me-down tradition from our parents, in this case, sex hunting. My parents did it and so does my brother and most other men in my generation, so i've made it a point to never do that, just to ruin expectations and be different and my own person. We all see what we want to see, i want to see someone who is different and doesn't care that much about sex, so that's what i see.
Party Crashing has several meanings. Most daytimers seem to think that its just some kids goofing around. Some party crashers say that the real reason that people party crash, is so they can go back in time. Tina says that there are many reasons that people party crash. I think the best analogy would be that party crashing is a method of "leveling the playing field".
i think this book along with most of other chuck's books have the same theme: SURVIVAL
each character is trying to survive something.
survival of the fittest
and so far my favorite theory of life ...
FUCK or die.

I don't know if it's so much about sex itself as much as it is just the "release."
