I can't remember what chapter number I am on, it is the chapter after "Echo"
But my question is, what year is this novel circa? I kind of got time travel things spoiled by a topic creator who didn't label spoilers in the topic name, but it seems like it may be in the future with the whole ports on the back of the neck. So far I don't think the book has given any kind of date but when the chapter where he talks about all the out-cording and the boosts, it kind of confuses me. Does it ever tell later in the story? Thank you very much.

Not wanting the spoiler, just wondering if the book ever tells you like what year it is or what kind of technology there is in the story
I don't think it ever states explicitly what year it is in the book, but chuck has said what year/timeframe he had in mind while writing it. as far as the technology stuff, i always pictured it like those headgear things from Strange Days.
Just keep reading.
