Non Fiction
Near the end of the book, Shot makes a remark about how maybe, possibly, the book we're holding in our hands will turn from a true blue oral biography into a work of fiction. This notion, more than all the other wonderful, mind-raping, numbing, hemmorhage-inducing, sticky-nose-bleed causing notions this book made me wrap my bruised mind around, this notion was the one that caused me to set the book down for the longest time and stew over for a few good momentos. That is, the implication of Shot's comments that this book was once a real deal Holyfield non fiction account. I at first thought that this book took place few decades in the future from the present day due to the presence of peak technology. But what if everyone of the main Party Crashes (Shot, Echo, Neddy, Tina, Karl, Rant/Chet/Green), when they all executed thier flashbacks and reverse pioneered, became immortal, etc., went back in time and made sure that every mention of everything and everyone in the Oral Biography of Buster Casey never occured or never existed? What if Rant/Chet succeeded in making sure he was never born? What is Shot made sure peak technology never came to fruition? That would mean, to me, that Rant takes place in the present day, our universe, our day, and that thanks to the handywork of Party Crasher time travelers, the history told in the book never occured. Rant was once non fiction, but has now become fiction due to the fact that there are no actual records of these events other than in this book. But then why does the book still exist? Cause it really is just a fiction book and always has been. I just thought the implication that it once was historical fact is a fun little punch to the brain to think about. Fuckin' hell this got long. Sorry. First post. This probably already has been discussed any ol' way. I'm gonna go feed a stray cat and smoke three cigarettes in celebration of the completion of this nonsense. Okay, Bye!!!
When someone asks you if you're a god, you say...YES!!!

Ha. I love that notion. I don't remember a lot of parts of the book I wish I did, but Shot's work with whatever sensory technology that I forgot what it's called reminds me of television. I tried to Google to find out, but ran across Google results where a preview page has a line on page 313 where Shot says just what you took the time to write out.
