My US Rant arrived today
As a UK reader I was a bit peeved by the UK cover so pre-ordered a copy through work and it arrived today
I'm ever so pleased it has come so early but a bit peeved as I cant really afford it til friday when I get paid
Oh well the cover is excellent and form the flicking through I've done cant wait until friday
is you're mailman holding it hostage or something?
I guess he works in a bookshop and they're holding it until he can pay.

i called today. had an experience quite similar to nate's..

ring, ring.
"can you hold?"
"um, yeah", i say.
holding music.
i say to jen:
"they asked if i can hold. what would they've said if i said, 'no, i cant' ?
she laughed.
more music. the song changed.
static.
"Yes, are you there?"
"Yes," i said. "im looking for a book."
after a pause and no indication that the guy even heard me, i offered the book title.
"it's supposed to come out the first," i said, "but sometimes they come out a week or two weeks early."
no answer. i may or may not have heard a sigh.
"so i thought to call and ask. just in case."
there was no more sound. i offered that it was fiction, and then i offered the name of the author.
no words, just heavy breathing and the distant sound of keys being punched.
he says, "are you there?"
"Yes." I wanted to offer that it was good talking to him, whatever the fuck his name is, but really, i doubt he'd have heard me.
"it shows here," he said. "yes, here it is.."
he paused for a second.
"yes, here it is! it seems that we do get it in."
"so, you have copies?"
"yes. it comes out on the first."
grumble.
"thanks."
im gonna have to wait til close to the first and order it a few days early from amazon. maybe it'll get to me kinda early, who knows..

Can you believe our President? I mean, how many years are we going to be in Iraq? Forever? Why don't we just annex the thing, make it our 51st state? And don't get me started about American Idol. You know why that kid, Sanjaya or whatever, stayed on the show so long and go so many votes, don't you?
It's because his name sounds kind of like [I]vagina[/I]. And, come on. Who wouldn't want to vote for a vagina? That's how we got BUSH and DICK in office, isn't it?
And what about Global Warming? I'd like to have a tan. I'm too pasty. What's the deal with all that? Shouldn't Al Gore look like George Hamilton if he really want to make a case for Global Warming?
What about Amazon.com, for that matter! I mean, I [I]know[/I] that the books are published. I've ordered and and paid for mine. So why can't they just send the dang thing over NOW?
So I don't have to post so many RANT threads, and I can go read, instead? 
What we need is a good old fashioned fascist revolution.
