I didn't think of this at the reading...
Look: I didn't think of this at the reading last night in NY but someone else can do it.
Ask Chuck at his next reading (whoever's going) What is the cover of Rant?
Extra incentive: You'll get a bouquet of flowers thrown at you and he'll give you copies of Clown Girl and Obscene Interiors for free.
i don't thinks there's any doubt about it... a heart it is.
No way is that a heart. Why is there a bone in it?
My dad says it looks like a synapse. But... there's a bone in it. That damn bone!
It's not a bone. It's an oddly colored blood vessel
. .
it's a cow heart.. jesus, havent any of you read the damned book ? I mean, fuck ..
just playin.. but really, it's a cow heart and some blood vessels and ligaments, basically, the whole inside of the flesh. just out. or at least that's what i picked up from an article ( NYT maybe ? ) a month or so back. you can find a whole other thread on it somewhere around here.
I don't know for certain yet as i havent read the novel and am waiting for the clevenger intensive to finish out. right now i'm reading noir and crime fiction and noir and more noir. and student stories and assignments and lectures and writing when i can. so, i dont know that it's a cow heart; ive only read that it's a cow heart.
ramble, ramble.

I don't remember ANYTHING in the book about a single cow. Or their hearts.
In the haunted house Rant made the kids touch real body parts. Including a cow heart.
Ohh, yeah. Hmm. I still don't know. Is it supposed to be the inside of the heart?

Obviously it doesnt look like this:

its stylized
I know it was stylized. I didn't expect it to look like that. I was just so for sure that it was a nerve ending. I guess the cow heart makes more sense.
oh, that picture is less than lovely.

I can smell it now

I always assumed it was a voice box, but after researching, I couldn't find any pictures similar to the cover. So maybe my assumption is wrong?
I used to work in a Meat Market and a cow's heart doesn't look like that. I used to have to cut them in pieces for packaging.
its synaptic nerve endings
which is what rabies affects the most as it travels through
Humans and animals dying of rabies commonly exhibit characteristic cytoplasmic inclusion bodies in neurons of the brain; these are called Negri bodies.
douche

to me it looks like a heart........human heart
