Dedication in Rant
I'm curious about the dedication page in Rant.
"For my father, Fred Leander Palahniuk. Look up from the sidewalk. Please."
Can anyone tell me what it means?
Look at this image. Who's hiding under the bed?

Eff, I never even realized it was a pic from under a bed. Guess I never really analyzed it.
"They sold you hippies grunge, hip hop, now liberty activism."
The cover makes me want to believe its a kid under the bed BUT I havnt gotten around to reading Stranger Then Fiction yet...I am starting it tomorrow since I have a whole 10 more pages of Snuff
You can't believe in anyone else
I like the dedication. It reminds me of the song "Look on the Bright Side of Life" from the movie 'Life of Brian'. I think the dedication is a reminder to everybody that, to quote RHCP: "Life can be good, life can be a little shitty." Keep your head up and you'll get where you're going. Thanks Chuck.
I have this dream life where I get to be a celebrity but I get to navigate the world fairly easily because I'm always in character. ~dana carvey

I think it means, don't look down, look up. I'm not sure. Chuck's dad watched his own father murder his mother (chuck's grandmother) and later was murdered himself.
