What I learned at the Meet-Up
1. Cultists are not morning people (morning defined as noon).
2. Vodka is not wine. I could drink without breaking my own rules.
3. Note to self: Vodka is NOT wine. Shots not glasses.
4. Mr. Hash makes a hella great banana bread.
5. Swimming or wading in the Wabash River is strictly prohibited.
6. Cindy Weston rocks!
7. Anxious Phoenix makes the world's best hamburgers
8. RK Daley is probably the nicest person on the planet
9. No matter how drunk you might get her, Jane is incorruptable.
10. Jeckyl and Hyde organizes field trips to the movies: a cult viewing
of Charlie and the Chocloate factory.
11. Karb fed us on stolen bratwurtz
12. Eq looks nothing like his avatar
13. Fuzzy never puts his camera down
14. Parkaboy is indeed love
15. Smartzaboy knows his way around steak
16. *Those who could not make it were missed.*
Edited to add details as hangover cleared. More to follow.
Repeat: Vodka is not wine. I was still tipsy when I woke up this morning,
Wasn't there long enough to get clued into any inside jokes. Everyone was exactly as I expected them and completely different all the same. If we ever have to bug out in refugee fashion, these are the people to go with.

I have brought home half of indiana in mudd with me. more mudd was created after you left.
I learned that I'm going to be outside of a certain tight circle for a long fucking time.
I learned that I'm going to be outside of a certain tight circle for a long fucking time.
You were there in spirit. Believe me, if the cult had the funds and the means, Cindy would have personally arranged private jets and limos to swoop up those who couldn't make it so that you could have been there--to enjoy the mud.

im guessing at least 40 people.
39, I won't be there.
No, there really were no inside jokes, you're right. I'm really glad I got the chance to meet some of the interesting people whom I usually distinguish by an avatar. I also met culties I hadn't really talked to before, so I even came out of it with some new friends. Those who couldn't make it weren't forgotten; if I remember correctly, we talked about you guys frequently. Even ralphthompsonxxx, who mysteriously never returned Friday night. We still hadn't heard from him as I was leaving.
I learned how forgetful I am.. I have another thing to add the the list of things I left behind.. my candle. Seriously, there is going to be all this unclaimed stuff at the campground and nobody's going to know whose it is!
In any case, I hope we decide to do this again sometime. You guys really are a lot of fun.
You weren't around long enough to hear any inside jokes.
Oh and Jeremiah/Ralphthompsonxxx came back eventually, but much later after you had already left. In fact I got stuck at the food tent/canopy with him, his wife, moonie and the occasional brace wanderer during the monsoon we had.

Jeremiah is an awesome individual.
I was here. Then I wasn't. Then I was again.

I couldn't agree more. Hell that's pretty much my impression of all of you.

Me too pretty much.
I was here. Then I wasn't. Then I was again.
i found that most people fit my general idea of who i thought they'd be, with little differences. sara was cuter than i'd assumed (not that i assumed she was fugly or nothing, i just never really had a picture for her, and she's really cute), and karbunkle wasn't obnoxiously loud and gregarious, although he still fucking rocked, and parka was more tightly wound than i would've thought; jane was identical, except her voice was less annoying than i would've imagined; i had no image for ralphthompson or dr/mr, but certainly any idea i might've had about those guys would've been anywhere near who they were in real life; that's about all. i think everyone else was predictable...

What I Learned at the Meetup

The Laz goes camping in Spiderman pajamas, like a disgruntled off-duty superhero, while Succotash Moon actually climbs the interior walls of hotels, with no spandex required.

Smartazboy (Frank) makes great steak and eggs. And if no plate is handy, a big plastic cup will do just fine.

We already knew that Luddy Dunn would visit cultists in a woodland habitat, but would not sleep with us (this time). However, I didn't know that several other cultists would sleep with each other. And on short notice. And without much actual sleeping. Those speculative preliminary threads were understatements, in some ways, rather than exaggerations. Who'd a thunk it?

Underneath all that sweetness and light, Jane S. is a tough chick capable of wasting other reform school girls, or at least threatening them with knives. She sometimes wishes death upon small animals. I'm glad she got religion and calmed down some and so I was safe in the same tent with her. She has great hair and a pretty face, even when drunk and sleep-deprived.

Mr. Hash (Liz) is a great girl scout, prepared enough to make up for a dozen campers who are altogether unprepared.

I had never seen a really good photograph of our talented but also very cute and vivacious graphic artist Minuet (Killian).

Many cultists talk just like they post, including interrupting each other with off topic bullshit and repeating things from earlier in the conversational "thread" like they weren't bothering to listen. Slovenly bad conversational habits and incredible wit and personal warmth sometimes get conveyed in the same breath.

Deeper and more significant things happened than any casual "hook ups" some folks are curious about. There are dimensions of character, loyalty and true friendships forming that we can't explain for you in a thread. For all the vanity, falseness and self-absorption in even the best of us, human beings have a spiritual reach that transcends doctrines, disagreements, and even petty jealousy. Meet some Cult family in the flesh. Go survive in the woods or on your own little island with some portion of this crew and you'll know what I mean. This is a chosen family and a community born from art and ideas, not a bunch of words on a message board. Make it real in the flesh. I learned that it's worth the risk and the expense involved to achieve this sort of homecoming.

My ancestors did not spend millions of years as single cell amoeba in the primoridial seas, develop gills, rudimentary legs to crawl out of the muck where they would continue to evolve through tribal wars, plague, famine, natural disaters and larger wars to become a self-contained genetics lab that required technologies which led to the developement of the computer, word-processing and internet capablities that allowed me to become a writer so I could join a cult and write in air conditioned comfort against the humidity, with my cheese toast and Diet Dr. Pepper breakfast just so I could go sleep in the woods, buddy. Take it to a resort hotel, then we'll talk.
But I would sleep with any of you pretty much anywhere else. No I didn't mean it like that. Maybe.

Anxious Phoenix is the best fire builder ever, and incredibly cool besides that
Hash cooks like a grandmother (deliciously)
Moonie is a gymnast
PB on Fritos ain't bad
Driving home is much faster than driving to the destination, even when you have to stop twice on the way to take a nap in your car and wake up sweating and confused.
You guys call me Deletus?! Fuck you! I love you anyway, or maybe because of it.
at fist I thought that said I looked like a grandma, and I was gonna say I'll grandma you. But I'll take grandma cooking anyday cause grandmas always cook the best food.
also PB on fritos ain't good either.

it hovers in a land somewhere between good and bad, somewhere where all the hungry people are lazy and hung over but remedying that with more drink.

I did that. I also thought I saw you while heading back home in your car and I gave you a weird face, but it wasn't you and the girl that so looked like you looked at me like I was a jackass. SHe was right of course, so I sped off

I thought you knew that. Its funny how you do that in speech also. "Nevermind."

througout the meet up I noticed several people, my self included making typing or clicking motions with their hands.
througout the meet up I noticed several people, my self included making typing or clicking motions with their hands.
oh come on.
oh come on.
I'm big on hand gestures while I'm talking so if I say something about being on the cult or typing or anything like that I gotta make the hand motion to go with it.
She isn't lying. It was mostly when we spoke of The Cult, though. It was weird. Lazlo has a spactic one.
Alex said "pwn3d" out loud, but he said it like "pawned". That still cracks me up.
You guys are all way hotter in person. ;)
I like that he still calls it on himself even in person, not undstanding that you can't give yourself pawned or hero points, someoen else must give them to you.
Alex sleeps like a ninja
I didn't know that ninja's snore.
I didn't know that ninja's snore.
That's all part of fooling you into thinking they're vulnerable.
maybe its a technique used to scare off all the wolves.
