Hiya Brits! EDIT: And other Europeans
Edit: Moved from the Brit Group's private forum.
Hey all,
excuse me for posting here and not being in the group. But it looks like I will be in London on March 30th for a few days and I'd love to meet some of you!
Where in England do you all live? Is it feasible to meet in London?
So the 30th is a Thursday and I leave for Barcelona on Monday. We could maybe all hang out on Saturday or Sunday.
What is late March like weather wise? Is it picnic weather? Or should we all meet in a pub for savory pastries and pints?
March is a long ways away, I know, but I thought I'd go ahead and post now. See how far you all are from London and such.
I don't know what's going on next semester at school, they don't let us know about these things (no honestly, they really don't), I can skip anything that's not an exam or a presentation or anything. I don't know what Kevin's up to but I know his hateful brother is getting married in Italy sometime next year, don't know when but I don't want to go to London all on my own..
Anyway, it's not too soon to mention this because we've been trying(not very hard) to get a meet-up organised for nearly a year now and maybe this will help us get organised.
March is not picnic weather time. I went on an overnight trip with school one March and it snowed all week, it was hellish and there were dead rabbits everywhere. Don't go to Aysgarth!
My 'hellish' brother isn't getting married until mid June I think... but my mum seems to think they won't go through with it at all!
I'm game.
How dare you! Infiltrator!
Ha, I know! I got really nervous when I saw 6 views and no posts. Maybe I had trampled an unspoken rule of Brit group etiquette?
I live in London (or at least I will again in three weeks time) and I'll be damned if you're gonna cruise through London without some kind of Brit meet. Consider the 30th marked in the diary for Mirka meeting.
I reckon these sarcastic buggers can be roused into meeting. At the very least, SnowWhite lives in London...
I'm actually thinking that Saturday or Sunday (april 1 or 2) might be better for everyone in terms of school and work for the natives.
Vendetta, Ghost: how far from London are you? Is visiting for a day feasible?
Not that far, a few hours drive. We could set off early morning and be there by mid-morning or we could set off the day before and stay in a bed and breakfast or something...I don't know. It's totally feasible anyway.

Do you drive or take a train? Sorry, I'm super curious about weird stuff as you already know from the picnic thread
I want to buy british candies with bizarre and cheerful names and send them to my nephews.
We'll be driving. It'll take about five hours. It's weird you should mention sweets because that's the first thing I think of when a long drive is mentioned and this time was no exception. I can't think of any with particularly weird names though...Pontefract Cakes? Midget Gems?

Yes, those are weird.
If it's that kind of drive maybe you should stay the night in London, not come up the day before? It's would be so much better to be able to head to a B&B for the night than face a five hour drive after hanging with cultists for several hours.
I'm going to try pork and apple pastry while I'm there!
Oh my god, definitely Mirka! It was a real shame I couldn't meet up with you in LA (or get to LA at all) so yes that's a great idea.
Amy and I could probably bus in for a few quid if we know the date in advance, might be in our exam period though.
!

How far are you from London by bus?
And it would be great if you could make it!
Is Amy..digits?
Yes siree.
We're like a three hour bus ride away but it only costs £3 return. Thing is, I couldn't afford to stay the night and no way am I going there and back in one day, I'd only have like...what, 3 hours tops in London?
I don't think I'd be there, but I hope you guys all have a good time.
x.

Maybe you could get a room in a youth hostel? There's so many and they're cheap. You could meet up with culties that night, crash at the hostel and the follwing day do some shopping or sightseeing type stuff before heading back..
It might be hanging out for more than three hours too. Lets drink and eat and walk around some.
I could get us a room at easyhotel? I think I would go for either a window or the TV remote this time around.

Is that good or bad?
A friend stayed at some youth hostel there in Earl's Court that had a bar and jukebox in the basement. I should try to find out what it's called.

It's very...Japanese. We stayed there on our trip to London to see Offspring.
!
If i stay in a hotel i wanna stay alone. I really don't like waking up around people anymore. I like my space and I love to smoke and Easy hotels don't let you smoke.

That's a good point. I found it a bit too warm, I was sleeping on the floor under the vent for most of the night.
!
I know - I was there!!
I'm going to move this into the Meet Up forum, actually. Maybe other Euro cultists could make it too? I'd love to meet Brown, Lupe, franc tireur, stoyan...
I know - I was there!!
It was for the others benefit!

I was going to suggest that someone give old Baris a nudge but I thought it'd look a bit eager.
I was going to suggest that someone give old Baris a nudge but I thought it'd look a bit eager.
See that's the difference between Brits and Americans, you'd give him a nudge, I'd give him a kick in the butt
So what's up?
Hey...I thought you were in Paris, Baris?
Leaving Thursdaymorning. You there?
Nah, I'm here. Sadly.
Paris weeps.
I sent them some homemade pie as compensation.
BUT HOW CAN THAT BE ENOUGH?!
Ze city... eez in flames.
You guys are ruining my thread!
I'll try to come up to London. Airplane tickets are fairly cheap if I reserve in advance. But my schedule is always shakey... I do however plan on coming. We could make this the official Euro Meet.

That's what I'm hoping!

I like the sound of that. We've got plenty of time to prepare (granted, I don't really have to do squat).
If I sort my shit out I may even have a crashable floor for a cultist or two. Preferably the less aromatic ones. Gotta run it by the lady though. She might not like the Internet coming to stay...

I want a t-shirt that's black with white arial font that says 'THE INTERNET'. Your lady will freak the fuck out gee.
Shave off half of your hair and put some circuits in.
Yeah, but that would be slightly less cool.
So which of the Cultists is aromatic?
So which of the Cultists is aromatic?
I smell like butterscotch usually but I'm getting a hotel room with a big tub and room service and stuff. It's my "vacation" so I'm treating myself to nice digs in London.
I used to smell really bad but not so much these days. I'm a smokey little fucker though, the world is my ashtray.
Britain has a certain distinct... odour.
Really?
Cause I think you're just jive talkin.
Maybe London just does.
Bridgend smells like burning rubber most of the time but every so often it's like everyone decides to cook chips all at once and the air is filled with that chip frying smell.
It's a delightful place, you should all come live here, get on the rock 'n' roll and smoke Lamberts with pregnant girls called Chardoney.
We've all got to go to a restaurant called HOME if this thing's in London.
I could put a few people up if they're willing to sleep on the floor.

Not a bad choice Shoreditch Queen.
As a confectionary treat for Mirka, I might grab a few bags of my mum's strange and wonderful Scottish sweets.

Despite appearances, none are poisonous.
Thanks, I try.

Oh, wow, I love it. Those names are adorable. "Wee tatties". I love it.
So what is this HOME place you and hattie mentioned?
