The Judas Cow unleashed.
Ok, to begin. Your amazing red hair. Do you know who you inherited it from?
Yeah, I got it from my mom. She tells me that theres a city in Poland where everyone looks like her side of the family- red hair and freckles. Its funny cause everyone who sees me is all "Oh, well you've got some Irish in you dont you?!" and Im all... yeah... but these features have nothing to do with that. Mom isnt the least bit Irish.
Have you grown up with both sets of grandparents? Do you know all about your ancenstry?
I know a lot about my ancestry- not everything though. A few years back an uncle of mine did like, a seven generation family tree. It was interesting. I learned a lot. My grandfather on my dad's side likes to tell stories too. He said that my family, back when they were in Ireland, were all horse thieves. And on my mom's side my family was carriage makers. I think thats a funny coincidence. My uncles like to tell me that my family were Hessians during the revolutionary war... and that they deserted. My dads dad tells a similar story. I like to imagine that both sides met at one point a hundred years or so ago and didnt even know it.
You seem to have quite an affinity for animals. Does this stem from happy childhood experiences with pets, or do you just think they're fun?
Yeah, Ive had pets since I was teensy. My mom was an animal science/agriculture major in college and shes kept her love for animals to this day. I grew up with all manner of pets- chickens, ducks, pigs. And dogs and cats too. I think that just being around that many of them from such a young age, I learned a lot about taking care of them. So now its just something Im good at. I like to do what Im good at.
Were you a social butterfly during your (compulsory) schooling years, or did you have a close group of confidantes?
Im actually really shy. I had- and still have- a lot of good friends- but I moved around a lot and it was just tough for me to keep any friends for very long. I was in a lot of academic clubs and stuff and made friends that way- but it was all just for school. I was, and still am, more of a "by myself" person. My dad used to tell me that he'd hate putting me in time out because Id have more fun there than I would playing with my friends.
Your boyfriend, tell us about him. Height? Hair colour? Annoying ticks? Marriage potential?
My boyfriend. Ahhh. Hes a little taller than I am- so maybe 5'10. This ashy blond hair... so hawt. And he has eyes that are... like... theyre so blue. And Ill sound corny for saying this, but theyre seriously the color of the sky on a clear sunny day. Annoying ticks... hmmm... he likes to pick things. Like on me. I have this... I call it my cancer spot. Its just this tiny little raised white piece of skin and Ive had it for ever but he insists on picking at it. As for marriage potential... gee whiz... hes talked about it but we've only been dating for like... ten months. Hes lovey dovey. Im more... give me some time. If everything stays the way it is for the next year or so, Id be all over him marriage wise. I love him a lot.
You're a photography major. What drew you to photography over the other creative arts? Do you like to dabble in a bit of everything?
I love making things. Im a very visual person. In my head, things are brighter than they are in real life. These pictures pop into my brain and I have to make them tangible. And then I have to show them off. Its why I like writing, too. But its also why I suck at it. I think of a place and then the action... and the action can only take place in that one space... it revolves around the space... and then nothing gets done. So thats what drew me to photography. But I like ceramics and jewelry making too.I just have to get ideas, you know? And then make them.
Which of the senses is your favourite? If you had to lose one, which would it be?
My favorite sense... I love the sense of smell. You can tell so much by the odor of something. If its sick, if its dead, if its alive... if its going to rain. If it will taste good. Theyre all great though. If I had to lose one of them without effecting one of the others- it would be taste. Cause then I could eat anything.
If you were a cast member of Jurassic Park, which character/dinosaur would you be?
Id be the triceratops. Cause it was cute and nice.
Are you allergic to any types of food or additives?
Negative. Im allergic to nothing. I think.
Have you worn glasses your entire life?
I got my glasses in 6th grade. But Id wanted them forever. I remember being in preschool , yes, preschool- and lying my way through an eye exam. Then in 5th grade I stared at the sun for 40 minutes a week and had glasses a year later.
Tattoos and piercings; you have both. Do you plan on getting more in the future?
Yeah, what they say is true about tattoos- they really are addicting. Im planning a stained glass style dragonfly for my leg/ankle and a Celtic knot for my right wrist. I dont know about more piercings though. I used to have two industrials in my right ear but the second one was done shitty and I took it out- I want to do that one again. I want a cage there- so that means like two more industrials. Im also thinking about getting my nose pierced. But Im not really 100 per cent on that.
Tell us the when, where and who of the best live show you've ever seen.
Believe it or not Ive never been to an actual concert. Ive been to shows for friends bands but nothing at like, a huge venue. I really want to see Counting Crows live though... cause I have the biggest hardon for Adam Duritz that youve (n)ever seen. Oh but wait, I have seen London After Midnight. It was at a Nocturna here in Chicago. It was okay. The bassist was hot. (As bassists usually are)
Can you think of a fictional character that resembles you mentally and/or physically?
The first one to come to mind is Lauren Ambrose's character Claire from Six Feet Under. My whole family says that shes me. And then everyone else says she looks like me. Or I look like her... cause she's older. Her or that chick from That 70s Show, whatshername. The other redhead. I saw her on an episode of MTV Cribs and shes got a pretty awesome style.
Sartre once said "It is only in our decisions that we are important." What do you think has been the most pivotal decision you've had to make in your life?
Um... giving my son up for adoption a few years ago. Most important decision I think Ill ever make. And I wouldnt take it back for the world.
Ok, so I need the obligatory book question. If you could get a first edition signed copy of any book, which would it be?
Ooh wow. I have a few first editions signed by Chuck... but I think Id like The Anatomy Lesson by John David Morely signed.
Chuck writes a character based on you into his next novel. Tell us the name and occupation of said character.
My character's name is... Morgan and she's an undertaker...slash artist. Which is kind of redundant but still.
You've been a member of this here Cult since '04. Did you sign-up impulsively or had you been perusing the forums for a while?
Totally impulsive. Like everything I do. Id just seen the very end of Fight Club on HBO and googled it. I remember the day. So I read, I think, every book I could find by Chuck and, upon further internet research, found The Cult. I took my name from Lullaby.
Do the people you're friends with on the Cult emulate your real-life friends, or do you like some Culties because they're different?
Theres really no one like my friends. But I mean, Im drawn to a certain "type" of person so there are similar qualities in all my friends. Mostly qualities that I dont outwardly show in myself, but leave lurking just under the surface.
Finally, tell us the name of your autobiography.
The Life and Times of a Not Pirate: The Megan Kelly Story...
I dont really know.
Le fin.
"Who needs purpose when you have the Cult?" - Phil
"So the guy says, Doctor! Get this dichotomy! I haven't been able to sit right for a week!" - Mike
Yeah, shame I didn't have a look around before I posted it. Sorry Megan.
"Who needs purpose when you have the Cult?" - Phil
"So the guy says, Doctor! Get this dichotomy! I haven't been able to sit right for a week!" - Mike
some people will probably still read it, just to get a little vacation from it all, ya know?
I read it.
Great interview, you two.
"Anyone who falls in love is searching for the missing pieces of themselves. So anyone who's in love gets sad when they think of their lover. It's like stepping back inside a room you have fond memories of, one you haven't seen in a long time. It's only a natural feeling." - Haruki Murakami (Kafka On The Shore)

Ditto.
Sometimes when I'm really stoned, and I close my eyes, I can't honestly say whether or not I'm wearing a hat. - Nightrious

Yeah, I never knew you'd had a kid Megan. Very interesting, and great interview in general. I thought pairing you two up would yeild some bejewelled goodies and it most certainly did.
Nice and interesting. Very good job.
i didnt even know this interview happened.
it was cool, though. good job, ladies.
