Wow,thats a hard one but i'll try without giving too much away.A single free spirited mom raises her son with help from an organisation called AMO,alchemists, magicians and outlaws. Its the characters on the boys journey to adulthood that made it such a good read for me personaly.

I moved the thread into the General Book Club area because I felt it was more appropriate here.  And it will get more responses.

I've been meaning to pick up some Jim Dodge myself.  He wrote Fup right?  I've heard alot of good things about that book - but it's so small.  It's hard to justify paying for a book that doesn't even hit 100 pages.  I don't remember but I don't even think it hits 75...

I read it about ten years ago, so it isn't very fresh in my mind. I liked it a lot. Yeah, he wrote Fup. I wasn't crazy about it. Another novel,  Not Fade Away, was pretty decent too,

Yeh Fup is very short and for that reason I'd recomend reading your libraries copy, on saying that the libraries my life blood in winter.I'm a self employed builder and winters a quiet time of year in blitey. Not that I mind not being to afford all the books I fancy cos using the library means I can go nuts and just grab anything that catches my eye. Thanks to PGoutis01 for moving the thread to somewhere more appropriate. I'm new and still finding my way round but I'm sure I'll get there.

I read Fup and afterwards went out and bought his other two books, Stone Junction looks great and I will be checking it out soon. Just the back cover made me giggle, something about a roundhouse to a nuns jaw.

Yeh it certainly has some giggles but it also got me thinking as well,on several levels actualy.Onr thing it made me think why restrict my present project.eg if I want my main character to have three legs and ride round on a dragon with a compulsive disorder then why not ( not that this has anything to do with my present project at all but I'm sure you get my drift) Anyway enjoy the giggles, theres plenty of them in their.
