What's Your Favorite Slang For Smoking a Cigarette?

This is the one I was gonna say.

I have heard:

Blowin' a butt (Adam Carolla, so it's probably some dated 70s slang)

Smokin' a fag

Killin' a Cancer Stick

There are probably many others, you see,
but the gerund should always be killed by an apostrophe.

It rhymes, so it's true.

I disapprove of all of these.

But my friends say grit time.

Huffin a cancer.

Let's go get a heater... or I need a heater. Or I need a nic stick (nicotine, of course.)

Aside from those already posted, I've heard "gunsticks", "straights", and "coffin nails".

For actual phrases (these could come out corny, but fuck it):

Shootin' a gunstick.

Sucking a straight. (If your character is a little gay, or is cracking a joke when he says it)

Pounding the coffin nail.

Blowin' a/the cancer-prick

My dad says, "Give me a deathstick."

When someone leaves to go smoke cigarettos, and someone else asks where they are, I always say they're (wherever they are) doing drugs. It makes people get all paranoid, "Whaddya mean doing drugs?!?" I'll usually estout, "Nicotine".

Sucking a smokestack.

When with my friends at my house,I used to say bubblegum instead of cigarette when I was younger. That way my parents wouldnt know I was smoking.
I find out now, they knew the whole time.

I heard someone say "She's outside, puffing a chimney". I thought it sounded absurd, but to each their own.

I've heard killthroat, scutt, and frajo.

i can't fathom any of these. i've never heard of half of these phrases. now, i know a bunch or slang for just cigarettes.

In One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest a cigarette was a dime. Danny Devito broke one in half and tried betting a nickel but MacMurphy wouldn't let him.

On the task at hand, I've heard my friends putting pot in their cigarettes call it a ciga-weed.

Combining cannabis and nicotine makes the nicotine 3x as carcinogenic/likely to give you tumors/cancer. Smoking cannabis alone is more likely to decrease lung cancer risks, nicotine more likely to increase. You have to pick, one or the other.

My friend used to call them "concentration" sticks.
I'm also in the minority when it comes to simply calling it "smoking a cigarette" or just going for a "smoke".

I guess it depends on the type of story/character, really. I'd suggesting using the old slang, "dart".

If that doesn't work for you:

Or just try being creative and make up your own slang for it.

This is commonly referred to as a Spliff.

Only, in the UK (I believe) all joints are referred to as Spliff. This is from my extensive research watching Skins.

I always thought spliff was the one that's shaped kinda like a cone. Joints just got bunched into it too.
