this is somewhat for me and somewhat for research. i have become somewhat of a collector of typewriters. i want to keep as many of the old glass-keyed dinosaurs out of the hands of jewelry makers as i can. this has led to me having some rather rare, beautiful, and almost functional things.

here are some of the issues i would like to know how to fix
-space bars that dont space
-strings that move the paper carriage being broken (how do i replace them?)
-fixing bent keys

i will supplement this thread with my knowledge of the manufacturers and dating certain models if those things come up.

“...There are so many ways of being despicable it quite makes one's head spin. But the way to be really despicable is to be contemptuous of other people's pain. You ought to have some apprehension that the man you see before you was once even younger than you are now and arrived at his present wretchedness by imperceptible degrees.”
