This is just for a writing project I'm thinking of getting started on. I need to know some things that people are really passionate about. So tell me. What is it? Is it something you preach to others about? Is it something that affects you personally? Elaborate if you can.

education (or the lack of in some people) in a few months i will begin my quest to become an english major and a teacher. i take my education quite seriously as most of it ive gotten for myself, through my own means and ends. so people that get one like its a thing they can take or leave really pisses me off.

history/culture - ive gotten into a lot of arguments, especially lately, because i see all these kids, and people of all ages for that matter who are absorbed in black culture or anime or anything really you can think of. but only one of those things. all they are is one thing, and not a substantial one. think im wrong? go ride the bus for the afternoon and watch the people that get on it.

the english language. its dying because of the previous statement and because of no one caring enough to put an end to it. hell, there were debates on a national level to teach ebonics in school. and now there are movements i have heard of to teach in spanish also.

When I was a kid I wanted to go to mars; and not just go, but be first. I memorized all the fuckin' planets by the age of five, and a lot of constellations and had a career plan and everything mapped all the way out to when I'd get there. Then I got into middle school and my dream wasn't cool anymore (it really wasn't in the first place, people laughed at me on career day). But, hell, it's always kind of stayed with me, just the interest and stuff, although I know now I could never be an actual astronaut.. a space pirate maybe, but until Shadov gets that going I stand no chance. Just theories about it, relativity and such, dimensions, and other phenomena.. yeah.

That's the weirdest one I got, but I mean; books, and writing were also passions of mine from a very young age. I started writing short stories as a kid, my first one at six; being about fudge liberating itself from it's fiery inferno oven and rounding up all the other baked goods. And, obviously, thats still very alive today.

I'm just pretty passionate about life. Living life, writing about life. I'm interested in other people's thoughts, in reading and I dunno. Is it pretentious to say I'm just passionate? Then again, some times I get nasty and find the world's disgusting. I couldn't give two fucks about anyone and think they're all cunts. But I'm pretty sure that's the same the world around for everyone.

Oh God, this is really freakin' lame but:

Theatre!!! Anything theatre! I just wrote this play, "Draw", that's going into the city Fringe festival, which I'm mucho excited about, and then I'm directing this thing at school... Also right now playing Juliet in Measure for Measure at the university and doing The Laramie Project with a local company. It's actually...all I do. It's a pretty wasteful, gratuitous thing to spend all this time with but I actually love it more or less more than anything.

Edit: In answer to the other questions, I don't shut up about it so I guess I do preach to others. Though I call it wasteful and gratuitous, I defend it pretty passionately when others call it so. Of course it affects me personally, it's all I think about more or less. So hey. I'm pretty dull mostly.

I'm very passionate about film.

I work in a video store and it always bugs me when people- especially ones I work with- don't give movies a chance. I'll ask if someone's seen The Deer Hunter, Cool Hand Luke or Memento and they'll say no, but they have no desire to either. Then they rent Little Man or Deuce Bigelow Male Gigolo. It's really disheartening to hear these people complain about how there are no good movies to watch on the new release wall even though they haven't seen a lot of good older rentals. I think it's ignorant to assume something isn't worth your time if it isn't brand new.

I'm also passionate about reading: Reading anything. I've always believed that people who don't read are either lazy or stupid. As much as I love film, I think that movies inhibit creativity to a degree: You're forced to look at the story from someone else's perspective. I think that might be why there are so many bad movies hitting theaters. Filmmakers draw a lot of their inspiration from other filmmakers so movies tend to look and feel the same.

Through portions of this post I'm screaming at my computer monitor. I hope that's a good indication of how passionately I really feel.

I understand your obsession. The Fringe... very nice!! I was a theatre major at a liberal arts college for four years. Unfortunately, my money ran out so I didn't get my degree. I guess technically my degree would have been in Communication Arts with an emphasis in Theatre. I don't think it's wasteful... I understand what it does for the soul. My favorite role I ever played was Mary in It's a Wonderful Life. That was great. Anyway, yeah, that's sweet.

helping others - my basic religion or philosophy is this: peace, kindness, and respect and i try to share that with everyone i come in contact with

the arts - i enjoy being a creative, and also being a catalyst to other creatives, which is why i'm trying to not only write my 3rd novel, but start an artist's collective

love - which is very complicated, and includes the aforementioned "trinity" and so much more - just seeing my kids, who are three, in their innocence and sincerity changes your perspective of the world

laughter - you know the saying: laugh, and the world laughs with you, cry and you cry alone

the alternative - anything that is not the "norm" be it writing (CP, CC, WCB, etc.), film (memento, waking life, the machinist, fight club, seven), or philosophies - these question authority, question what we know and do, and question who we are every day

Spacing Out.

Its something I realized at the beg. of this year. It's not what I'm interested in six months at a time every year, things that sound like a resolution..

Nope, its what I do consistently, and don't notice until someone else says, "Hey, you know what - you do this a lot."

So: What I've always done consistently is not give too much of a fuck, I have a dispassionate face that is really hard to mold into any shape no matter what the story. Sad, whatever. Things just don't sink in like I was born into gunfire. So maybe the things you do passionately are what you do automatica.

Things you don't care about.

free thinking. regarding religion and sexuality especially. homophobes really bother me. i'm straight, and gay people don't affect my life, so why should anyone be annoyed/pissed/scared of them?

I'm passionate about story. I'm incapable of relating to the world without it.

I'm also hardcore when it comes to beer. I like to drink a quality beer, but more than that, I love to make beer. Nothing is better than a day with the brew kettles out in the driveway.

I'm also pretty enthusiastic about rocketry. I love building rockets, flying them in the park with my kids. Letting kids who gather around for the countdowns have a turn at pushing the button. Chasing the recovered rocket.

I get very intense about poltical issues I hold dear:

I want to tear down the fucking wall: America should be a come as you are party. My ancestors didn't ask anybody's fucking permission.

I want to legalize drugs: all drugs. It is not the state's baleywick to decide what you ingest or don't. Your body and mind are your responsibility.

There is no excuse for taxing income. You tax shit that has social costs: cigarettes, for instance. Or imports, but only to pay for the cost of running ports and Customs inspections and so forth. Tax gas or cars to pave roads. But you don't tax something that has no negative impact on society and costs the state nothing.

A thirteen year old girl who shows up to an abortion clinic is evidence that a crime has been committed. Her supposed right to privacy should not trump prosecuting the creepy pervert who fucked her, even if it was her Daddy. Give her the abortion if you must, but collect DNA evidence and charge the kiddy-toucher. And it should be a death penalty offense.

The Republican and Democrat parties are two branches of one entity. If either wins, you and me lose, end of story. Any politician who can make it at the state or national level, even be a contender, in that system is absolutely too corrupt to be trusted.

My right as a woman to vote, be educated, and get paid just as much as a man. I'm not a hardcore feminist, but I excercise my rights to the max. I've proven wrong every person that has ever tried to tell me I couldn't do something because I was a girl.

I'm passionate about life. About my education. My Friends. Art. and Music.

* 'Gay' is not a synonym for 'stupid.'
* Marriage is a right, not a heterosexual priveledge. And behind all the religious bullshit it just makes having sex okay in the eyes of society.
* The price of college textbooks is almost as daunting as the price of college tuition.
* My education is and will be the key to my success. Without it, I would not be where I am today, and without it, I won't get where I want to go in the future.
* There should be no debate about evolution. How did you get a cold this winter that your body became immune to and got rid of last winter? Evolution.
* If you truly believe that whatever happens, happens, and it's a part of God's plan, then tell me why you take medicine. If He planned for you to get better, you'll get better, right?
* Don't place blame on the abused. It's not as easy to leave as one may think.
* But if you're a girl who shows up to a party of all guys wearing almost nothing and getting wasted, just remember that the situation probably could have been avoided.

What if she's pregnant through her thirteen year old boyfriend?

Don't forget all societies revolve around economies, and all economies revolve on taxes.

I feel strongly about those spitting anti-religious views. As if they have to right to tell someone what to believe.

I'm passionate about the arts too, I don't get why calling yourself an artist is such a dirty word anymore. Maybe because it's so easy to just label yourself as that, I don't know. But if it's what you do, then it's what you do!

I'm also passionate about free independent thought. To me, these people that whine about those bible-believers all sound the same as those same homophobic bible-believers they're railing against. Let anyone believe whatever the heck they want. The only thing that matters is what you believe. Building up your own ideas and thoughts with as little input and outside sources as possible is truly an amazing thing.

I'm also very passionate about G.I. Joe
they 80's one, not the faggy 60's "doll."

If she's below the age of consent, and 13 is, even in Arkansas, putting your penis in her is a felony. Maybe you don't go death penalty if it's a 13 year old boyfriend, maybe you just send him to a gulag and forget about him.
If a 13 year old boy and girl have sex and the parents of the girl find out they can sue the boy for rape.
The point I was making earlier that brought this up is we've carried the 'privacy' ruling in Roe V. Wade beyond all reason. Clinics who provide abortions to girls below the age of consent should be required to report to law enforcement, gather DNA and whatever other evidence and assist in identifying and prosecuting the guy who knocked the girl up.

Right now, the girl's parents are not even notified. She can't get a tattoo on her own, but she can make these huge, life-altering decisions as if she was an adult. It allows creeps who shouldn't be touching kids to hide behind the medical privacy of their victims.
