That's an easy answer: It depends. Since I'm not from the US I don't know the specific details here, but depending on what substance it is and the amount of time that has passed since you've administered it, there are ways of reversing it. In most cases you are first injected with some sort of tranquilizer (I think that's the English word for it) and then the lethal stuff. You can clean the blood through a machine, get an "antidote" etc, depending on the substance. The body and its organs is basically a water pipe and the blood is the water flushing through it. The body, though, can get fucked up from substances and even if the body is still alive when you reverse it, the body may never completely recover. Brain damage, heart problems, nerve damage - lots of things can happen.

I know this, since my friend told it to me once. He was a medical student back then, so he should know (I guess), but if I'm wrong, please correct me. :)

Geez, don't know.  But it raises an interesting question.  The old rumor where if an electric chair malfunctions during an electrocution, the prisoner gets off the hook and sentenced to life in prison, I wonder if the same happens if a lethal injection goes wrong.  For example, if the IV infiltrates, or they inject the wrong substance by accident, would that be considered an execution?  Would the prisoner's sentence then be changed from death to life in prison?  And if so, could a prisoner sue the state to get the death penalty again?  I mean think about, the prisoner made his peace, was ready to die, and now, he has to live, probably for a long, long time in a pretty shitty place.  Mind fucks all over.

Re: surviving lethal injection

Well, I certainly applaud anyone wanting to do a survive lethal injection, but take it from this old death row inmate, I've spent my entire adult life on death row, and a program like this one can do more harm than good.

If you only kill one part of your body (and that's all lethal injection is going to do to you), you're setting yourself up for injuries down the road. I've seen it a hundred times.

It's like putting a powerful engine in a stock Toyota Tercel. What will you accomplish? You'll blow out the drive train, the clutch, the transmission, etc., because those factory parts aren't designed to handle the power of an engine much more powerful than the factory installed engine.

Lethal injection basically only kills the heart and to some extent, the lungs. What you really want to do is kill your entire body, all the major muscle groups (chest, back, abdomen, legs, shoulders and arms) at the same time, over the course of an execution. And don't forget your cardiovascular system!

I'm proud of you guys wanting to do this. Three cheers! Falling in love with lethal injection, eating your last meal, etc., is one of the greatest things you can do for yourself. And you WILL fall in love with it if you can just force yourself to stick with it a year or two and experience the amazing progress you'll make.

But do it right, okay?

My advice, find a good prison, with qualified executioners who will design your lethal injection for you (especially in the beginning, until you get the hang of it yourself) and guide you in your quest for state-sponsored execution. Thirty to 45 minutes a day, three days a week, is all you'll ever need to do (I refuse to believe any inmate is so busy that he or she cannot make time for that, especially considering how important it is).

And don't worry about being embarrassed or not being in shape the first time you end up on death row. You have to start somewhere and almost every one of us were there ourselves at one time. So no one will say anything to you and very, very quickly you will progress way beyond that stage anyway.

Now get out there and do it! :-)

This is the new ethic. Animals' lives are their own and must be given
respect. Reject the anthropocentric falsehood that maintains the oppressive
hierarchy of mankind over the animals. It's time to set them free. Their
lives reduced to biomachines in the factory, farm and laboratory. Dairy,
eggs and meat, fur, suede, wool, leather are the end products of torture,
confinement and murder. I abjure their use out of reverence for all innocent
life. Wildlifes' right to live in peace in their natural environment without
this civilization's interference can no longer be denied. Must no longer be
denied. To make a civilization worthy of the word civilized the cruelty must
end, starting within or own lives. Reject the anthropocentric falsehood that
maintains the oppressive hierarchy of mankind over the animals. It's time to
set them free. Veganism is the essence of compassion and peaceful living.
The animals are not ours to abuse or dominate. I abjure their use out of
reverence ... I abjure their use out of reverence ... I abjure their use out
of reverence for all innocent life.

Spike and hungryforstink...  I'm not sure your posts are on topic - but they're so bizarre/thought out I really don't know what to do with them...
