Plotting ideas
Okay so im trying to get back into writing. I thought I had a festival of ideas in my head for a story. When I sat down I realized that I really didnt know what to write about without sounding cliche. What are some techniques you use to organize and create a catchy plot?
^^ What he said.
I think the best way to develop a story is too not think about it too much. Writing is like morning wood. You wake up and it's just there, now take care of it.
Great analogy.
"They sold you hippies grunge, hip hop, now liberty activism."
i read once that the way stephen king does it a lot of the time is it'll start out as a joke. "Wouldn't it be funny if __________ happened?" or "If ________ showed up in a _____?" kind of things. Seems to work pretty well.
Or you can close your eyes and do that like mad libs!
thanks for the tips...lol and i really like that analogy
I'm not surprised that's how Stephen King writes.
"They sold you hippies grunge, hip hop, now liberty activism."
I've found being lazy comes as an advantage with plot building. I'll come get an idea and be too lazy to do anything with it. A few weeks later when I finally feel arsed enough to start writing, I've came with with something much cooler by then.

don't try so hard. just look at life in a different way, shift your paradigm, and you'll realize that life isn't so cliche.
