I've never been to New York. But I need to know, if you were really fast, I mean Usain Bolt fast, and you had to run for like, say ten minutes, without stopping. You'd run for everything that meant something in your life, superfastrun.
What way would you run, if it'd have to be really dangerous, and in rush-hour traffic?

Against traffic. If that's what you're asking. Because cars can see you, and you can see the drivers generally. If you're coming from behind, they might turn into your path without you seeing.

Start from anywhere, You'll want to not get hit, but it should defiantly be a possibility. Part of it is you should need jedi-reflexes to surivive, so any directions that is generally dangerous would do.
