mood altering drugs affecting memory?
i was wondering if mood altering drugs like bipolar disorder medication or anti depressents or pretty much any mood altering drug could affect memory, like moemory loss, and what chemical caused it.

also ive heard of some people having hallucinations while on Benzodiazepine's ( i dont know if thats the correct use of the word sorry) what are those like. are they like the stereotypical acid trip hallucinations or are they not as severe? thanks again

Ativan, a benzo used to treat anxiety, seizures, eating disorders, etc has such a strong amnestic affect associated with it that it will often be administered in the hospital just before surgery so that a patient will be relaxed and less likely to remember pre-operative jitters or traumas.
It's also often given to chemo patients because it's a strong anti-emetic, keeps you from getting sick, and again, helps blur some of the unpleasant memories of treatment.
