can't remember author's name (similar to chuck and bret easton) - see inside
I remember reading this book about 15-20 years ago by an author whose name I'm trying to find now... his style is kinda similar to Chuck's and Bret Easton Ellis'
It's about this "normal" guy (wife+kids) who starts to adopt a transvestite lifestyle... things start spiraling and in the end he jumps from a tall building (empire state bldg. perhaps?). It takes place in Chicago or NYC.
Another book, I think from the same author but not sure, is about a serial killer in chicago.
Please help me identify the author(s)!
Thanks!
Yeah, I got nothin', but you probably need to read John Rechy anyway.
Do.

I have no idea about the first book , but for the other, are you talking about The Devil in the White City by Erik Larson? His books tend to be based in Chicago and this one's about the murders that happened during the World's Fair. http://www.amazon.com/Devil-White-City-Madness-Changed/dp/0375725601

Shiiiitttt...I found it!
Well it seems that my booze-and-time-affected memory separated a single book to two - I was talking about the same book...
It's Chicago Loop by Paul Theroux!
Regarding the spoiler - I had to use it since it's one of the few things I remembered about that book... sowwy.
Thanks for helping me out - I'll give Rechy a try for sure.

Way to ruin the ending!
