Behaviourism
I'm writing a short story where the consequences of the somewhat meaningless actions
of the main character are in focus. Slightly nihilistic, but not as an answer, more stated as a fact. It's still on an early stage and I'm still developing this character, but I already feel that my own experiences are too limited for this persona.
So, tell me..
what are your most ingrown (is that a word in English?) habits and what do you think are the reasons for them/how did they develop?
I mean everyday things.
This is the first time I'm writing a story where I avoid going into the character's psyche
on purpose.
It's damn hard.
Thanks for anything you have to offer.
Oh, I wrote that in the middle of the night...not very understandable...
Instead...answer these (these are more directly related to the story)
For what reasons do you cut your hair?
How and why do you react like you do when strangers talk to you?
Are there any daily routines you refuse to follow - like brushing your teeth (ew, I hope no response on that one), showering..
do you refuse to answer the phone when it rings? if you sometimes do, why?
same with the doorbell ringing
Do you neglect helping strangers if you see them needing help?
all things that are considered 'normal behaviour' or 'normal reactions' to situations/things
For what reasons do you cut your hair? I don't. I do sometimes when it's really long. I have thick hair and when it gets to my ass I get headaches in the shower. I feel stupid cutting my hair. I've always had it long and I feel people stare at me if I were to cut it. I know I shouldn't care what others think but sometimes I do.
How and why do you react like you do when strangers talk to you? If they talk to me then I get nervous and kinda drone on and talk until they are bored. Sometimes it's good and I can carry on a good conversation. I have a low self esteem really. Jeez this feels like therapy.
Are there any daily routines you refuse to follow - like brushing your teeth (ew, I hope no response on that one), showering.. Hahaha I don't think so. I pretty much do all that stuff why wouldn't you?
do you refuse to answer the phone when it rings? if you sometimes do, why?
same with the doorbell ringing Yes. I don't like talking on the phone. Especially with my parents but I answer the door bell I like seeing people in person.
Do you neglect helping strangers if you see them needing help? Sometimes I just react slowly. I help either way though. Sometimes people don't appreciate it but some do and that's nice.
For what reasons do you cut your hair? --
I cut my hair because I hate combing it. I finally shaved it all offf and I look like a fuckin' Jarhead.

I like a lil' communication every once in a while. If im not in the mood though, ie dont want to be bothered, I speak spanish

I dont brush my teeth at night, only in the mornings and everyone loves my smile. I don't do it because I'm used to not brushing at night. I've grown acostumed to only brushing in the morning. Besides me and my Dad's teeth are 'so perfect' they look fake. I figure I keep doing what I'm doing, It'll stay that way. Aside from that I shower regularly.

God Bless Caller ID, normally I just wait for the ID to pick up who it is and if i dont want to speak to them I let the answer machine talk to them.
Doorbell, I don't answer at all. They should call before they come over - unless it's my mom, and dosent have her keys.
Do you neglect helping strangers if you see them needing help? I help them if they're hot-looking.
Seriously, I'd help them to feel good about myslef. Something like compensating for being a douhcebag
Hair cutting - hasn't happened to me for over a year, I tend to avoid it, because with the cut comes a forced conversation filled with small-talk. Its immensely frustrating not being able to be my normal sarcastic self, because a) my hairdressers have all been moronic and would get offended, and
they could stab me with the scissors, or alternatively give me a mullet.
Answering the phone - another thing I try and avoid. Me and my brother both avoid it; the phone will start ringing and we'll both enter the room from different directions, and we'll stand there bickering with each other over who's closest, who its most likely to be for etc. In the end, it rings out, and we both just glare at each other and leave, muttering obscenities under our breaths.
I don't really have anything to say about the others.
For what reasons do you cut your hair?
- I cut my hair when I feel I need a change to maintain it easier, or I feel like something new.
How and why do you react like you do when strangers talk to you?
- it depends on how the stranger approaches me, otherwise, i try to act cordial and respectful, i react because I don't want to come across rude by ignoring them.
Are there any daily routines you refuse to follow - like brushing your teeth (ew, I hope no response on that one), showering..
- i don't shave my legs everyday, but i shave them when i need to: going on a date, going to get laid, wearing a skirt, etc
do you refuse to answer the phone when it rings? if you sometimes do, why?
- i try to wait until the second ring, sometimes with phones if you answer right away, the person on the other end doesn't even get to hear a ring so it creeps them out, also, for the landline - 2 rings = caller id comes up. i dont have a doorbell, but if i did, i would answer it.
Do you neglect helping strangers if you see them needing help?
- depends on what kind of help. i'm an untrusting person, so if i'm driving on the interstate and see a guy stranded on the side of the road, i would rather call the cops and say there is someone stranded, rather than stopping and helping them myself for fear of being kidnapped, robbed, or raped.

Can you be more specific about habits? Like, daily routine sort of things or like biting your nails kind of habits?
