What is your favorite Miyazaki anime?
i think my favorite would have to be Howl's Moving Castle, and then Spirited Away comes in a close second... :240:
howl's moving castle had pretty good dubs- howl was christian bale
nausicaa.

MY NEIGHBOUR TOTORO and I remember seeing HOWL'S MOVING CASTLE at the film festival and I almost cried.
Totoro.

As much as I want to say that Spirited Away was my favorite, there was just something about Howl's Moving Castle that struck a chord in my head.
Princess Mononoke. SoOo long though.
Runner up would prbably be Howl's Moving Castle. My favorite book too.
I DON'T THINK
BATMAN CAN SAVE US THIS TIME
Spirited Away. Although I think Porco Rosso is criminally underrated.
1st: Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind
2nd: Laputa
3rd: My Neighbor Totoro
Pretty much the order in which he released his films from Nausicaa to Howl's Moving Castle. I like all of his movies so much, though, that ranking them says very little about how I feel about them.
spirited away, by far
I loved Spirited Away. That has to be my favorite. Howl's Moving Castle was really good, too, though. I don't like any of them with English dubs, because it takes away from the magic.
English dubs ruin everything. Just give me some damn subtitles.
it does not. The voices are good, and pixar does a great job mirroring his words.
I love them all.
I really want to see ponyo.
see my avatar?

I don't mind the english dubs, I think they are generally done pretty well in Ghibli films. The original dubbing for Totoro is definetely better. It IS hard to watch them sometimes after you have heard the Japanese though.
1. Nausicaa - this was a very interesting fantasy world, also offers a really good role model as well if anyone has a girl.
2. Princess Mononoke
4. Laputa
4. Spirited away
5. Kiki
6. Totoro
7. Ponyo
8. Howl's moving castle
9. Whisper of the heart
I downloaded Ponyo via torrent, it looks very childish so I had trouble working up the interest to actually watch it. It is very good once you get into it.
"Civilized men are more discourteous than savages because they know they can be impolite without having their skulls split, as a general thing." (Robert E. Howard - The Tower of the Elephant)
I don't mind english dubs for animation. And i think they usually get pretty good voice work for Miyazaki's films.
Princess Mononoke's my favorite, though they all hover pretty much in the same level. There's a few i've yet to see, like Ponyo and maybe two other ones. I forget which ones i've seen, truth be told.
In order :
1- Totoro
2- Porco Rosso
3- Lapuuta
4- Princess Mononoke
5- Spirited Away (Chihiro)
6- Howl's Moving Castle

Earth Sea was done by Miyazaki's son and apparently they had a big falling out over it. It's not BAD but a lot of the things in it do not make any sense. Won't say more than that.

Princess Mononoke. Surprisingly not Spirited Away... but yeah. Princess Mononoke, easy. Howl's Moving Castle comes second. THEN it's Spirited Away. Haven't seen any others, I don't think.
Si vis pacem, para bellum
oh shit, it's really hard to pick favourites here.
spirited away was the first i ever saw, so it hold a special place in my heart and soul. but other than that, it would either be laputa or totoro.
Spirited Away

Spirited Away is one of my favorite movies of any genre. I still haven't seen Howl's Flying Castle yet, but I am optimistic.
I liked Princess Mononoke, until I had to watch the last twenty minutes with the english dub because my dvd player just stopped running the subtitles. The english dub was pretty bad. Which was an even greater disappointment because Neil Gaiman did the english adaptation.
