I think it's disappointing if you are actually NOT a Christian.
I never read it, but I heard it's more akin to Martin Luthers posting to the catherdal door more than it is an athiest manifesto.
I read a lot of Sandman, Ultimate Spiderman, anything done by Frank Millar, anything done by Alan Moore, Ultimates2, JTHM, SQUEE, Supergirl New Avengers
etc
Has anyone read Bukowski's Post Office?

Nerve.com's Special Comic Issue; only read the essays, and they make me miss New York..will check out more later. new work by Paul Pope

I know this is an old posting, but I finished the book about a month ago and I am really not sure what I read. I am a Christian (Catholic to be exact), but I still have questions. Russell is from a Protestant background (or at least I gathered that) but he did ask some really pertinent questions in the book. I don't think it is a read for everyone. I think if you are willing to question your religion, but strong enough to retain your beliefs, then the book can do no harm. If you are not...don't read it.

Probably my second favorite Bukowski novel. Read it, read it now.
Do not speak- unless it improves on silence.

Should I read it before Factotum though?

Just finished The Incal series by Jodorowsky & Mœbius. Excellent stuff...
Previous to that, I went through Neil Gaiman's Neverwhere and Charles Burns' One Eye. The latter is just a collection of photos, but still rather interesting to see how he chose to stack and title them.
I also recently read The Technopriest series...Does anyone know if the third volume of this will ever come out, since DC kicked the Humanoids sector?
I love Jodorowsky. Oh so much.
Did you watch El Topo ?

Yes. An excellent film.
So is Holy Mountain. And Fando Y Lis. And Santa Sangre.
He's working on a new film: King Shot
I'm eagerly awaiting that one...
Problem is he's a bit like Orson Welles, his film projects come to fruition as often as the appearances of Nessie.
That's why he's a more productive comic book writer, especially in France.

hahaha.
Quite true...

I did. Post Office was the first Bukowski that I read. Good one to start with.

Woot! Another Jodorowsky fan. Discovered him a couple years ago, he's just awesome! And moebius together, it's like crack, must read it all.
